Monaghan / Thomas Halpin or Halfpenny & Catherine Walsh from Laragh
« on: Thursday 15 December 16 22:33 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for any information on the ancestors/relations of Thomas Halpin and Catherine Walsh, who married in Aghnamullen East parish on 27 Nov 1863 and had 10 children between then and 1881.
The family moved to Waterford sometime between 1881 and 1887 and the Father Thomas died on 26 Jun 1887. I have birth/baptismal dates for the children in Monaghan and have their deaths etc in Waterford. My query really is who were they? Or why did they move to Waterford? From the 1901/1911 census Mother is born in Monaghan. Children are ?, Ellen, Mary, Bridget, Jane, Patrick, James, John,Thomas & Catherine. Family story said they were related to James Connolly, but we cant find any evidence for this so far. Thomas was a mechanic.

Galway / Manning in Kilronan, Aran

Looking for information on an Andrew Manning who died in Kilronan in Jan 1894. it says aged 72 retired coastguard, on death register. I'm wondering if an Andrew Manning who was a publican in 1880s in Kilronan is the same person.

Cork / Jeremiah Mahony & Mary Buckley family
« on: Friday 21 October 16 13:25 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find some information on this family. A daughter Ellen (Nellie) married a William Doyle in Manhattan on 2 Apr 1899. This Ellen's birth may be 29 April 1872 in Carrignavar. Two brothers also seem to be in New York: John born 28 Oct 1869 Carrignavar died 12 Apr 1907 in Manhattan and Michael Mahony (born about 1870) married Ellen Curtain 12 Feb 1899 and died 28 Dec 1932 also in Manhattan. Ellen Mahony Doyle died 20 Apr 1934 in Manhattan, her husband William Doyle died 1932. I am hoping that somebody from the Mahony (or Mahoney) family will have kept in contact with the NY Doyle side of their family. I am researching from the Doyle side and they have no information.
A daughter Bridget Doyle married Robert Torello
A son Jeremiah Doyle married Ellen Mahony, whose mother was Ellen Sweeney fro Abbeydorney area.
There is a marriage for a Jeremiah Mahony and Mary Buckley in 1855 in Ballinamona Mourneabbey.

Kerry / Re: Cornelius & Daniel Kelleher Kerry to USA

Thank you Beth for that clarification on the Kelleher family.
I'm giving up on the Kelleher connection for the moment as I can't seem to trace them.
But I have traced the family of Daniel's wife Anne Kelly to the Headford, Glenflesk area. Her parents were Daniel Kelly and Margaret Donoghue. They married in Glenflesk in 1866.Their 8/9 children were born in Shronederagh/(Shronedarragh,Headfort). Son John to Hastings also Edward to Worcester/Holyoke. So I am wondering if there are any of this family still in the Kerry area.

London and Middlesex / Re: Murphy & Broshen from Cork - do I have a chance?

More common is Brosnan, but could also be Kerry as Brosnan very common there too. But I think it is like searching for a needle in a haystack with both names.

Kerry / Cornelius & Daniel Kelleher Kerry to USA
« on: Friday 09 October 15 18:20 BST (UK)  »
This is a very long shot I know but here goes.
I'm trying to trace the origin of 2 brothers Daniel and Cornelius Kelleher who travelled from Kerry to Toledo, Lucas, Ohio about 1893/4. Daniel married an Ann Kelly (also from Kerry) and they have a son Hugh born 26 Oct 1902. Daniel died 1904 and Annie married again to a Thomas Ellis. Both Ann and Daniel born 1873/4/5. I have (I think) Cornelius in 1910 & 1930 still in Toledo, working as a barber..
There are 2 such brothers travelling together - it says Kerry to Worcester 1893.
If anybody has this story in their family please help. Ann has a sister Mary Kelly b appro 1868 with her in Altoona Pa, in 1910, said emigrated 1892. I have all census details etc, its just where are they from?
