Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / William Jones (Llanwinio) Baptism details 1841
« on: Tuesday 06 April 10 07:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm trying to track down the parents of William Jones who (based on census records) was born in 1841 in Llanwinio. He was residing in Michaelstone Super Avon from 1871 but I have no earlier information on him. Any help in narrowing the search would be gratefully received.

Regards

Hi
I've been trying to track down the death of Joseph Cantle who disappears from the census records after 1841. In the 1841 census he resided at Tonnewydd Row, Llangynwyd Higher with his wife Hannah and children. Any help on checking local records would be gratefully received.  He married Hannah in Llangynwyd parish church on 18 May 1836.

I'm trying to find the baptism records of a Thomas Cantle and Sarah Batt who married in Keynsham on 9 Feb 1777.

My knowledge on them is scant but I believe they are the parents of a William Cantle who was baptised on the 7 Oct 1781 in Whitchurch, and  Anne baptised on the 20 Dec 1778 in Whitchurch.

Any information on Thomas and Sarah's birth/parentage would be gratefully received.

Hi

I've been researching a Benajamin Jones born around 1874 in Michaelstone Super Avon (Cwmavon) and believed his parents were William and Margaret Jones. William was an engine driver and born around 1837-1840 in Carmarthenshire.

The census for 1881 has them residing at 20 Miners Row with another son John (17) and daughter Elizabeth (13), Benjamin is 7.  [The 1891 census has the parents still residing with Benjamn (17) and daughter Margaret].

I ordered what I thought was the correct birth certificate for Benjamin only to find  that the parents were listed as William Jones and Hannah Jones formally Isaac.  The occupation of the father was also Engine driver. This Benjamin was born on 13 April 1873 at 24 Tymaen Street, Michaelstone Super Avon.

Request:I would be very grateful if someone could look up the births/christenings in Michaelstone Super Avon for any Benjamin Jones around 1873/4.

Note: I had wondered if his father might have remarried in the 10 years from 1871 census to 1881 but the children listed on various census records dont match that well. For instance one that I found with William Jones and wife Hannah have the children William, Mary, Martha and Elizabeth. Its conceivable all of the children bar Elizabeth may have left home by 1881 if William had remarried but Elizabeth's age in 1871 is 6 not 3. Still possible I suppose but I'd rather know if there are more Benjamin Jones's residing in the village born around 1873 so any help would be very welcome.

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / David Phillips Birth/Christening look up
« on: Wednesday 07 May 08 10:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm trying to track down the birth/christening records of :-

David Phillips married to Sarah Morgans on 20 Jul 1824 in Narbeth.  (Sarah was born in Llandewi Velfrey)

Two David's crop up living away from home in 1851 census records. One is shown born in Llandewi and the other in Freystrop Cross.  I would presume the Llandewi one is the most likely except that the Freystrop David has his occupation as rail horse keeper which ties in with Sarah's census info back in Narbeth.  David born in Llandewi (labourer) is shown as 55 in 1851 and the David from Freystrop Cross as 67 in 1851 census.

Is it possible for someone to look up the births of David Phillips in these two locations around 1790's. I do think the Llandewi David is the most likely.

Hi

I would be very grateful if someone could look up birth/christening records for William Cantle who married a Lucy Britten at St Mary's Bitton in 1803 but who also had his children christened at St Ann's Oldland and Hanham. I'm assuming he was from the Bitton area but have no clues about his parentage.  Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming he was born in the 1770's/80's but have no hard facts to back that up.
His wife remarried in 1834.

The Common Room / Contested Wills at the High Court
« on: Thursday 03 April 08 10:45 BST (UK)  »
Its come to my attention that my illegitimate great grandfather (John Cantle) contested his father's will in the high court in London. I dont have the exact date but he died in 1947 at the age of 84 so a number of decades can be discounted.  Its my only clue to tracking down his father but I dont know if we are allowed to see the list of cases by year.

Does anyone know if these records are available to the public and if they are also available on line.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Dorset Lookup Requests / Long Bredy - IRONSIDES/MUDFORD
« on: Friday 10 March 06 11:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking for any parish records on John Ironsides and Mary Mudford who married in Long Bredy on 17 April 1750.  Any details on children would be much appreciated.

I'm particularly interested to know if they had a daughter Adria born in 1750. There seems to be a lot of confusion in the Familysearch records on who the parents were of Adria Ironside born in 1750.

Dorset / Trevetts
« on: Tuesday 28 February 06 07:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking for information on the Trevetts living in Winterborne St Martin/Winterborne Steepleton area in the late 1700's.  In particular the parents of Mary Trevett who was born around 1780 in Winterborne Steepleton. I understand this area was known later as Martinstown. Mary married John Bowring (born abt. 1778 in Winterborne St Martin - parents William and Aidra Bowring).

Any info would be much appreciated.

Helen
