Yorkshire (West Riding) / Where did a Bradford Quaker come from?
« on: Thursday 21 April 16 20:23 BST (UK)  »
Currently is discussion with an aptly named JamesBond!
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=729985.0
The initial discussion was with regard to a Quaker burial site identified as Bradford.
[Nothing found as yet as to saying where in Bradford]
Now to the quest, it is documented that one Jas (James) Bond married one Martha Yewdall at Brighouse. (1720 but died 1721)
What I wondered would there be a record of James's father, nothing shown for Tong in this respect.
Ancient records seem to be a bit thin on the ground, any suggestions greatly accepted.

Technical Help / PDF to JPG software.
« on: Sunday 20 March 16 20:29 GMT (UK)  »
Doing some research on a local church where historical records are in PDF format.
What software would be needed to change to JPG format?
Be aware though there are 500 photos that need to be changed, so not a case of just a few.

Technical Help / Firefox not responding!
« on: Sunday 27 September 15 15:52 BST (UK)  »
Currently using Windows 10 and Firefox ver 41.0.
Recently started to get a message 'Firefox not responding', leaving me with a locked up laptop with the only option but to exit then restart to get back to where I was.
[Users on Facebook have reported having problems playing games (my wife included)]
Laptop not used for any games, plenty of memory installed (8Gb) plenty of space on the hard drive.
Have any other users here had anything like this happen to their computers?
 Brian
Ps I don't want to install Chrome!

Technical Help / Windows 10 1 Month on! Is it the right operating system for me?
« on: Friday 28 August 15 19:35 BST (UK)  »
So most of us have had Windows 10 on our machines for 1 month.
Do you find that things are working out to your satisfaction?
My 2 identical I5 laptops boot up/shut down very quickly, but applications are running slower than when I had Windows 7.

Well after 1hr and 20minutes Windows 10 installed with no problem? Touch wood. :D
[I would imagine the problems - set backs - will manifest over the coming weeks.]

What I forgot to mention: For those who have a battery dependant machine, put your machine onto mains power (charge) because the update can take a couple of hrs or more depending on download speed!
