Thanks for the last replies I will give some of the links a try.
His name was Robert Mullen I don't know if I mentioned that after the accident he became a sort of vagrant so I don't even know of an address he would have lived at when he died which would be probably pre 1980's.
Thanks Kim

Cork / Re: Mullen-Cork
« on: Wednesday 06 August 08 07:12 BST (UK)  »
I have found more information, My gt grandfather was Michael Mullen Hartlepool c1874. His father was Michael Mullen born between Apr 1845-Mar 1846 in Ireland son of Dennis Mullen.
Michael married in Hartlepool 1869, his wife also Irish descent was Sarah Coyle born between apr 1839-Mar 1840 daughter of John Coyle.
I can't be sure of the County they where from I just seem to remember Cork for some reason another family tree researcher thinks it could be Tyrone.
Any help please?

I don't know what year he was born around 1909, could be anything from the 1930's to 1950's, I would'nt have thought it to be any later than that.

I don't know if anyone can help at all?
My nan's brother worked on the railways and lost an arm in a shunting accident.
Would there be anywhere I could find out about this?
I am presuming he worked for GNER as was born and lived in Jarrow.
Would these companies still have employee records?
Any help at all would be great
many thanks Kim  :)

Hi Barbara,
It looks like them does'nt it.
I have just checked LDS there is a Nataniel Burton Christened Sedgley, stafford 1778
Parents where Nataniel Burton and Sarah Tomlinson.
It is a couple of years out on his age but in my experience LDS is'nt always accurate when it comes to years and ages.
