Lancashire Lookup Offers / Re: Look-up Liverpool (Mersey) Pilots 1734/1990

Hi Gordon

No need to send the photos as I have seen them on trees on Ancestry and probably the one who you took them for also.

I will send you an email about other family connections.

Best regards
Gail

I should have added that Thorley Lester (i) was born in 1790 and died in 1858 and that Thorley Lester (ii) died in 1869.

Many thanks BY that's fantastic and such a fast response :-)

I live in Australia so a visit to the MMM is out of the question but you have cleared up one puzzle with the date of death for Thomas.

Thanks again
Gail

Hi

I'm looking for any details on Pilot Thomas LESTER who I believe has previously been mentioned on this site but no details given. Also for a possible relative of his Thorley LESTER.

Thomas married Mary RUSHTON in 1787 at St Peter, Liverpool and his occupation was shown as Pilot. The baptisms for all of his children also show his occupation as pilot.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the extra restores, the colour is fantastic.

Edward died on 18 February 1920 so the photo was before then. From what has been said, I think it would most likely be 1919.

Thanks again

Thanks for all of the amazing restorations they are fantastic.

Alfred was born September quarter 1918 and died 27 April 1919, and so he is not the young boy in the photo. The younger boy in the photo would have been Alfred's first cousin, Leonard Woodend, who was born in 1915. Don't know how I hadn't worked out before that the photo MUST have been 1918.

You are all truly very talentend, thanks again.

To help with the dating, the above picture is a postcard. Below is the reverse.

Hi I'm new here and have seen what a wonderful job is being done by so many experts on dating and restoring photos.

I have a suspicion that the photo of my Gt Gt Grandfather Edward Brumfitt, who was 18 months old in 1841 and died in 1920, was taken to commemorate armistice day, due to the fact that there appears to be a poppy in the older boy's lapel. The younger boy was born in March 1915.

Can anyone confirm my theory?

Hi

I realise this thread is quite old but I would be interested in the BRUMFITT / ELLIS family. Thomas BRUMFITT who was christened in 1696 married a Sarah, and I believe she may have been Sarah ELLIS, although I can't prove it.
