« on: Wednesday 12 November 14 00:40 GMT (UK)  »
This is a photo of my Grandfather (on the left) and 2 other soldiers. Its faded and has been badly marked around the edges.

Hoping a kind soul will give them a cleanup.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Dating a Leeds & Hull School Photo
« on: Tuesday 11 November 14 16:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all of you photo experts  :)

Wondering if anyone could help narrow down the year when this school photo was taken. I've been guessing it was taken in Burton-on-Trent around 1895 . Can anyone help with a more specific date?

Wondering if someone could give this photo a clean up. Thought it might be easier to identify them if I could see a few more details.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / George's last name
« on: Monday 01 September 14 19:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi All:

Can anyone make out George's last name?

This was from a marriage in Staffordshire in 1740.

I've a few ideas but wonder what others think.

Staffordshire / William and Martha Sedgwick - 1841 Census
« on: Saturday 01 March 14 17:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi:

I've just received the 1839 marriage cert for William Sedgwick, 23, Bachelor, Shoemaker and Martha Stevenson, 24, Spinster. The marriage was at the Registry Office, Lichfield, Staffordshire.

The only William and Martha Sedgwick I can find on the 1841 census are in Liverpool, Lancashire (HO107 piece 566 folio 13/6 page 4) and while they are shown as born outside of the county he is shown as a Postman.

I've found one child, Emily Sedgwick, parents William and Martha, baptised in Wall, Staffordshire in 1845. William dies some time after that and Martha remarries in 1850 in Staffordshire.

Can't seem to find any other William or Martha Sedgwick in 1841, but it seems odd to me that in 1839 he is a shoemaker and then 2 years later he is a postman.

Can anyone else find a William and Martha in the 1841 census that seem more likely than the ones in Lancashire?
