Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: Photo in need of TLC

Hello again

I have re-scanned the image at 300 dpi as requested.  I hope this is slightly better.  It's hard to tell - it still looks pretty poor quality.  What do you think???

The restores you have already done are really fabulous so I doubt if this re-scan would have helped improve things.... but i'm no expert!

Wow - Irene/Niksmum your restore is beautiful.  Such detail (from my pathetic 96dpi scan) - I hadn't spotted the window either and I had the original scan!  I have brought home my laptop from work so I can take it with my scanner at the weekend to scan the original again.

Thank you so much.  I really appreciate the effort that everyone has gone to.

Many thanks indeed for the restores - they're great. I particularly like the restores to the faces - they are really sympathetic to the original and no-one looks like they've got a melted face!   It is so kind of you to give up your own time to help.

Many Thanks again
Jackie

Many thanks for the restores - I will try and get hold of the photo again at the weekend and scan at a higher resolution.  I usually do scan at 300 dpi - I was probably paying too much attention to the picture and too little to the scanner!

I'll post the picture again at 300 dpi.

Thanks for your help so far.

Jackie  :)

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photo in need of TLC
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 12:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I recently came across this photograph in a forgotten old tin box of family photos.  We have now tracked down who the photo is which turns out to be my great, great grandmother and father with 3 of their children (one of which is my great grandmother).  I would dearly love to have this photo restored but my attempts on photoshop were quite feeble.

If anyone could give a little TLC to this photo I would really appreciate it.  Feel free to restore to b/w or colour.

Many thanks
Jackie

Hello Experts!!

Many thanks for more info than I could ever have hoped for.  I was told (by older family relations who knew him) that he received quite a bad facial injury which caused him great embarrassment in his later years.  That was perhaps the injury which ended his service.

It has really helped me to find out more about the person rather than just the normal facts, figures and birth certificates you tend to collect via research.

thank you all so much again.
Jackie.

Wow

Thank you all so much for the information.  I know who the 'Mary Miller' is and she was his aunt who lived in Whitehaven so I am totally convinced that it is John Camm.

The foot police also ties in as the later postcard photo I have of him came from "Corporal J Camm, Military Foot Police, George Hotel, Northampton" (if that makes any sense??)

I know I'm being a pain but can you explain what the MIC card is and also what do you mean his Star medal was lost??

Just for completeness I have uploaded the front of the second postcard of John Camm.

Thanks again
Jackie

Hello

Unfortunately despite the writing coming though on the front of the picture a lot of it is faded and the stamp is difficult to make out.  I have tried to photoshop the back of the picture and have attached the best resolution I could make.

If it is who I think it is then it is my Great, Great Uncle John Camm who lived in Kendal.  I have another photo of him and he was listed as Corporal John Camm.

Can anyone help to determine if it is a WW1 photo?

Many thanks
Jackie

Armed Forces / Uniform Identification and Possible Date Please
« on: Monday 10 August 09 21:46 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I wondered if you would possibly be able to identify this uniform and also confirm if it is a WW1 photo?  I have another photo which I believe is the same person (also in uniform) but at a later date.  If it is the same person it should be WW1 but as the uniforms are completely different I just wanted to check.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks
Jackie
