Many thanks you all.  I wasn't able to log on yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised when i seen all your hard work.  Thank you all so much.

The photo itself was kind of a carboard thingy?? Not really sure how to describe it really.  Not sure what to look for. I'll get the original back and see if there is anything on the back.

I'll print a copy off for my 'Mam' she'll be really pleased with the results.

Thanks again
Jackie

Hello

My mother (or Mam as we say in Cumbria!) came across this photo a while ago.  She not sure if it is her great grandfather or her great, great grandfather.  I wondered if any knowledgeable person could help.  It is a bizarre shape and looking at the original is appeared very old.

The photo was almost faded to extinction but after a high res scanner and a few image filters I managed to get the image to the state it is now.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Many thanks
Jackie

Thanks for the suggestion Suz but I tried that one before posting and didn't find anything.

I'll maybe try a little research at the library.

Cumberland / The Grapes Pub - Cleator Moor

Hello

I am currently helping a friend with her family research and she is wanting to put together a "this is your life" style book for her Mums 70th Birthday.  Her mum used to live in The Grapes public house in Cleator Moor.

If anyone has any information or photos about this place I would really appreciate your help.

Many thanks

Hi Claire

I have asked people at work if they know the family which several people do.  I see that in the meantime you have a good contact who can help so I will leave it up to them.

Hope the research goes well
Jackie

Don't know the family personally but I am from the area and know the cafe - it was really good.  I think they used to make their own ice cream (if my memory serves me well).

I'll ask around and see if anyone knows what happened to the family.

I'll keep you posted.

Travelling People / Re: Interesting traveller names!

Hello

Don't know if this is the right forum or if this will end up as a thread to a previous subject or as a personal message (which i'm still not sure how to send).

Anyway I am trying to track down Boongie Pam.  We have many links the same both in surnames, the traveller links and in locations.

If this is Pam or someone knows how to get hold of her I would appreciate the help!!

Many thanks
