Louth / Re: Dolan/McQuillan marriage - Termonfeckin

I'm pretty sure that the church being referred to in that thread is the one at Milltown townland just west of Termonfeckin. It was a chapel of ease for the parish.

see: Sandpit / Milltown RC Chapel (c1837)

Extract of description of the RC parish of Termonfeckin from Lewis 1837 : '..In the R. C. divisions the parish is the head of a union or district, comprising also the [civil] parish of Beaulieu, and parts of the [civil] parishes of Ballymakenny and Drumshallon; there are two chapels, one in the village, and one at Sandpit, both small buildings..'

sorry - think I was looking at the wrong McQuillan record. Do you have a link to the other thread ?

records are kept by parish, so if that church you mentioned is a chapel of ease, you need to check for it's corresponding parish to see if there are records.

Wicklow / Re: ENNISKERRY HEADSTONES
« on: Sunday 07 July 13 21:22 BST (UK)  »
I had a chance to have a quick look around the Cemetery at Curtlestown Lower, It's located on the south-facing slope behind the church. Most of the headstones are clear to read, but no sign of any Flynn/Flinn that I could see.

There were some older, badly weathered stones that I didn't have time to examine more closely, and also a number of plots with no headstones, or simple wooden crosses that appeared to be unmarked.

The townland of Annacrievey borders the north of the graveyard.

Thom's directory lists the townland in the Enniskerry section as 'Annacrevey' (Annacrivey on the townland index), and seems to include a listing for your Thomas in the 1914 edition. There's also listing for a Thomas Flynn in later 1927 and 1930 editions .. maybe the directory entries were slightly behind with the details, or a son took over the property ?

Dublin / Re: BMD Regitrations in the City of Dublin - General Question
« on: Sunday 07 July 13 21:02 BST (UK)  »
As you all know, within the City of Dublin there are two BMD registration districts - Dublin North and Dublin South.

What is the dividing line within the city?
....

The river Liiffey marks most of the boundary between the two Registration districts. Dublin South district also covered large large parts of South West County Dublin - e.g. Clondalkin, Tallaght etc

here's the listing for the townland of Curstown in 1830 - two Dolans, a Patrick and James. They could be relations of your Patrick, or might even be him if he held the property before he married.

  Curstown townland, 1830

No sign of any McQuillans occupying agricultural land in the townland, but there are a few in the civil parish, so nearby :

   McQui*l*n, Termonfeckin civil parish

(Carstown is a separate townland in the same parish)

Note the Tithes mainly cover agricultural land, so dont cover all properties.

....the marriage record of one of the daughters mentioned Curstown.

The townland of Curstown consists of about 215 acres and is in the civil parish of Termonfeckin. It appears to be about 3km north of the town of Termonfeckin.

I'll see if I can loctate the townland on the Tithes...

Dublin / Re: Looking for Nolan Family members

........still births at home.  Surely I should have found them in glasnevin where else would they have been buried? .....
....

In Glasnevin stillborns were buried in what's known as the 'Angels plot'. They were one of the few cemeteries that allowed stillborn babies to be buried in concentrated ground. I think there are some records for this section, but not sure if they are included in the main online details or not.

.....
As I don't know when they were born or what their names were the civil records don't help as they don't give the mothers last name.
....

Civil certs should include full names of both parents, unless illegitimate.

One of the 3 babies Martha Nolan born in 1899 lived until age 4 and I was able to find my gNana Margaret on the 1901 census by using Martha's name.  For what ever reason my gdad Joseph is not listed with them and I cannot find them on the 1911 where my Nana would have been with them....

just wondering do you have a civil birth cert for Martha ?

It should include occupation for her father, which might help find hem in 1911 or explain why he is absent in 1901...  There's just one good match for her birth on the BMD Index..  does the timeframe agree with the baptism you have ?
