Hi Pheno,
Thank you so much for that! It's explained a DNA match very nicely.
I am a member of SFHS and thought I was following the link they sent recently...   Will try again.
Kind regards,
Diana

Sussex Lookup Requests / Another MUZZLE marriage I can't find!
« on: Sunday 07 March 21 12:45 GMT (UK)  »
Also found in an on-line tree, but with nothing to back it up is William MUZZALL married to Martha SCOTT.   They were both born c 1744 and if the other information is correct they had a daughter called Mary born in Ditchling in 1769.

I have searched Ancestry, FindMyPast and familysearch as in my previous post with no luck.

The marriage of Edward WILLETT to Mary MUZZELL on 9th April 1792 at Ditchling is in an on-line tree but I've been unable to find it anywhere to check (Ancestry, FindMyPast, familysearch).   The SFHS website, which was going to be my next port of call seems to have disappeared today.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear in my original post    I just want to find out about the District Cottage Homes for Pauper Children because there is a child there in 1881 who might be of interest to my wider research.   Is there an entry register for instance and if so, where can I look at it?

I have a baptism in 1879 and she's 1 year old in the 1881 census.   Mother seems to have died in 1883.   Father (re)married in 1889 as a bachelor.   The surname is JONES, no first marriage identified so no maiden name to find the two children recorded in 1881.   Older brother has no baptism, seems to be in the Corporation of Birmingham Industrial School in Fillongley in 1891.   I have posted about that too.

Similar to my previous post!   I have found a boy who might be a family connection resident there in the 1891 census.   Might he have gone there when his father was widowed?   Does anyone know what records survive that might help identify him?

I have found a possible family connection resident there in 1891, age 10.   Does anyone know what records survive that would establich who her parents were?   If she is the right child my guess is that she became an inmate after her father was widowed.   Is this probable?

I share 821 cM across 38 segments with my first cousin.   My brother shares 980 cM across 37 segments with her.   I think you have a reasonably good chance that your assumption is correct but I'm no expert.
