Just to clarify, Samuel James BRAMMAN who married Matilda Ann HINDLEY and features in the UK 1871 census is definitely part of my extended family.   He's also definitely not the person I'm trying to identify, who was called Samuel BRAMMAN.   I know the family was in the US on 26th December 1870 because that's when their daughter Ellen was born in Philadelphia.

I know the church is St. Mark's.   I can't find anything online other than the transcript on FindMyPast, which doesn't give the names of the fathers.

Hi Milliepede

Samuel & Mary were definitely in the US by 1870.  I haven't found an immigration record and there's nothing in any of the US trees to show when they arrived.

There was a Samuel James BRAMMAN, who married Matilda Ann HINDLEY in 1856.   I can see them in 1871.

I'll carry on looking but it's really Samuel's father's name that I need to make the connection.

Having gone back to my notes, maybe I can fit them into what I know about the BRAMMAN family, but I need Samuel's father's name to be sure, so would still appreciate the look-up

No, not according to the Nottinghamshire Marriages Index on FindMyPast although I did get Mary's surname slighly wrong - it was BOOKER and not Brooker.

Apart from the marriage being on FindMyPast I know it's right because I have a DNA match with some of Samuel & Mary's descendants in the USA.   I'm trying to work out the exact connection.   They don't fit into my research as it currently stands ...

I know that Samuel BRAMMAN married Mary BROOKER at St. Mark's Church on 5th June 1865.   The information comes from a transcript on Find my Past.

If anyone is able to look up the entry in the register and give me the rest of the information (fathers' names, ages, occupation, witnesses etc) I'd be extremely grateful.
