Staffordshire / Besom Yard, Brook Street - Wolverhampton
« on: Tuesday 18 November 08 01:14 GMT (UK)  »
Alot of my relatives  resided in Brook Street in wolverhampton from around 1870's - 90's. It was known as the Besom yard, as they were gypsies and made Besoms.

It was just off Salop Street, but it got pulled down to make way for the ring road.

I found a booklet on the Besom yard, but it was about the people there in the 1920's.

Has anyone ever heard about  or know anything about the Besom Yard, Brook Street. As it was supposed to be quite notorious, but i can never find anything on it.

Thanks
Gary

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Edward Caddick - 1851 Census Lookup please.
« on: Tuesday 30 September 08 16:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi guys,

i know there wasnt any luck with my last request. But ill get there eventually. I was hoping in the meantime that someone could find another family for me in the 1851 Census.

I am looking for the following family.

Isaac Caddick - b.1798 ( Bilston ) poss. Varnish Maker
Sarah Caddick - b.1802 (-/+2 years)  ( Wife )
Edward Caddick - b. 1848 Bilston

The family are possible in wolverhampton at this point. As in 1841, Isaac is missing, but Sarah is there with her children in Princes Alley - Wolverhampton. The children with her at this point are : Ann 1832, Sarah 1824 and Isaac 1840.

Im not sure what children would be with her and issac in 1851, but i know my Edward must be there,

once again, thanks for any help you great researchers can give me.

Has anyone seen similar uniform to what he is wearing... any help would be great.

He was from wolverhampton if that helps.
