Nottinghamshire / John Wildgust - Bulwell
« on: Sunday 29 March 09 13:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi all! ;D
I am searching for a baptism of a John Wildgust b. abt 1822 Bulwell, I have him on the 1851,61,71 and 1881 censuses, he married Louisa Clifford in 1842 and he died in 1890. While searching on the 1841 Bulwell census I came across a John Wildgust b. abt 1821) son of James (b. abt 1791) and Mary (b, abt 1796). I have found James and Mary's other children's baptisms but cannot find John's!!
James and Mary did have a son John but he was baptised in 1817, (all censuses states John as being born 1822). the 5yr gap has me wondering if this is my John or not?
Can anyone help with this puzzle?

many thanks

I am trying to find a marriage between William Albert Jelly/Jelley and Kate Hatten around 1895 in Dublin.  Could some kind person tell me where I can find bmd indexes or parish records?
William was a Rifeman in the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade stationed at Richmond Military Barracks, New Kilmainham, Dublin on the 1911 census, Kate says she was born in Dublin City (1871), and their first child was born in Co Dublin 1895.

England / Lost Marriage !!!
« on: Tuesday 09 December 08 15:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have been unable to find this marriage!
William Albert Jelly to Kate Hatten..............I have no more info on either so do not know which county etc. The info I have is from their daughters birth cert 24.12.1902, St Thomas Street, Portsmouth.
Both William and Kate could be from anywhere though, his profession is a Private in Rifle Brigade so could be stationed in Portsmouth and not originating from there. I have tried BMD Indexes etc but can come up with nothing! I also do not know if this was a first child for William and Kate or if there were prvious children. Sorry there is not much to go on, but any help would be great.

Many thanks

I have a William Albert Jelly who I can find nothing about! On his daughter's birth cert 24.12.1902 it states his profession is a Private, Rifle Brigade. The address on the birth cert is St Thomas House, St Thomas Street, Portsmouth. Does anyone know if there were any Rifle Brigades stationed in or around Portsmouth in 1902?

Nottinghamshire / Lewis's daughter's or not?
« on: Monday 10 November 08 10:33 GMT (UK)  »
I have had a contact who says Lucy Turner is the daughter of Lewis Lowe.

Quote:  Lucy Turner was the daughter of Maria Turner, i got Lucy's birth cert no father mentioned, Lucy was living with Evelina in the 1891 census as grandaughter, i went and looked at the parish records today and it has Lewis Lowe on there as the father. On Ann's baptism it just has Lewis Lowe and Maria Turner, so both children it seems are his, even though he is not on the birth cert. (ps Lucy's christening date 31/1/1880)

1881 Census RG11/3336/81/15 2 Hardstaffs Yard, Arnold, Notts

Lewis Lowe  aged 23 Head of household Unmarried Framework knitter

in the same house are

Maria Turner aged 22 Housekeeper (Head) Arnold, Notts

Ann Turner aged 2 daughter Arnold, Notts

Lucy Turner aged 1 daughter Arnold, Notts

On the 1891 census  RG12/2676/83/30 Arnold Notts

Eveline(a) Lovett (Lowe nee Chambers) Head 66 Kimberley, Notts

Lucy Turner  aged 12 granddaughter Arnold, Notts

It seems on the face of it that the children are Lewis's but
I would really like this confiming please, could some kind person please check for me as I am not sure whether to add Maria, Ann and Lucy to my tree.

many thanks
