Australia Lookups completed / George William WRIGHT, SA

Hi there,

I would like to find out more about my George William WRIGHT. I don't know for certain where he was born, but I suspect it was in South Australia cir 1836, though maybe not, because didn't SA only just become a state then? George married Catherine (Cath) MORAN at the Residence of Mr Gould, Gould's Creek, South Australia, Australia, 18 Mar 1857. Together they had six children, (Eliza Ann, Mary, Catherine, George William (Jr) and Thomas Wright), half of which I have birthdates for, but the other half I only have tentative dates for.

I have no idea whether George was really born in Australia, and neither do I know where Catherine Moran was born either. I think George's father was also called George William Wright - that makes three of them. And Catherine's father, I believe, was called Nicholas Moran.

I'd really appreciate any help anyone could give, or maybe a point in the right direction. Thanks very much,

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / WATERS family

Hi everyone,

I have a very general request. I'm just looking for anything related to my WATERS family in Surrey (focused in the Cheam, Croydon and Sutton areas).

I've gone through the census records and found as much as I can from them, but I'm hoping someone might help me find some more, or perhaps point me in the right direction.

The main names I'm concentrating on are:
John Waters, born 14 Aug 1842, in Ashtead, Surrey, England. He married Amelia Collins Ince, born 9 Feb 1840. They married in 1862 in Epsom. The children of theirs that I know of are: Harry Waters, born cir 1863 in Ashtead, William J A Waters, born cir 1866 in Cheam and Edwin Waters, born cir 1869 in Cheam.

Edwin Waters married Amelia Kate Lloyd, she was born 15 March, 1869 in Sutton. They married in Sutton 1891. The only child of theirs I know of is John Edwin Henry Waters, born in Sutton, 9 June, 1892, and who was my dad's grandfather. I wonder if there is more siblings of John's out there. There's none on the census that I could find.

John Edwin Henry Waters married K/Catherine Maud Cooper, born cir 1898. They married 4 April, 1920, location unknown. They had Kenneth John Waters (my grandfather), 26 Feb, 1924, as well as three other sons, one of which is still alive in England, but I'm not sure how to contact him. I'm not even sure of his name. I should ask my dad about that.

I know it sounds like I have a lot, but there's so many blank spaces! Siblings, death dates, etc. I don't even know what town my grandfather was born in. I'd appreciate any suggestions or help a lot! I'm out of my comfort zone in Surrey, seeing as how I'm an Aussie.

I was wondering if someone could please do a passenger list lookup for me? I've searched all the available sites (that I know of) on the web but have come up with zilch.

I'm looking for Anthony McFayden, and whatever family he was with, on the ship "Trevelyan". I believe it left England in 1865 and arrived in Port Adelaide, March 21, 1866.

London and Middlesex / Henry and William JONES

Hi there,

I'm searching for Henry Martin JONES born circa 1838. He married Fanny/Frances Chase (born circa 1840, Bramshot, Hampshire, England) in Morphet Vale, South Australia, Australia. Henry died in Kangarilla, South Australia, 12 June, 1903.

I believe Henry and his older brother William came to Australia aboard the ship "Caroline" in 1855. I'm fairly certain of this because I read that Henry came to Australia on that ship in the Biographical Index of South Australians, which is a fairly reliable book. The ship left Southhampton, Hampshire and arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia. On this immigration record it says that Henry was 20, that William was 23, and that they were both from Middlesex and worked as Agr Labourers.

I also think that Henry's father's name is also Henry Jones (just to make things simple.  ::) )

I've been trying to find them on the English census records at Ancestry. There's a possible family that seems to match at Harrow-on-the-Hill, Harrow, Middlesex, England. But I don't know for certain that it's them. I'd appreciate any advice/help anyone could give me, maybe some pointers on where to go from here. I can't afford to spend any money, unfortunately. My limit is my Ancestry subscription!
