One of my relatives Kohn Frederick Preston was buried in Hampstead cemetery, Fortune Green Road on 20th February 1947.

His Grave/Plot reference is F5/6 which I believe is not a specific grave, but a piece of ground.

If anybody is likely to be visiting the Cemetery, I should be very grateful if they could take a photo of the area for me.

Many thanks

Martin

Family History Beginners Board / Amelia Ann Mary PRESTON
« on: Saturday 20 July 13 17:51 BST (UK)  »
I am a reasonably experienced genealogist but am having real trouble with some of the actor/actress relatives I have found. They seem to change/amend their names and pretend they are married when they are not!!

I would really appreciate some help with this lady please.

Starting with what I know and what is true, she was born on 4th April 1887 in Kensington, London to John Frederick Preston (I have her birth certificate which provides confirmation).

In 1911 she appears on the following Census RG number: RG14, Piece: 23799, Reference: RG14PN23799 RG78PN1378C RD464 SD2 ED98 SN7, Registration District: Chorlton, Sub District: Ardwick , Enumeration District: 98, Parish: South Manchester, Address: 14 Clarence St Gorton Manchester, County: Lancashire

She is shown as a vocalist being married for 4 years to an Arthur Preston, theatrical manager aged 31 from Portsea, Portsmouth and they have a daughter Marie Mena (sometimes shown as Mona) Frances Preston born in 1908.

The problems are these!  I cannot find any reference to a marriage between Amelia and Arthur Preston anywhere between 1900 and 1911.  Her daughters birth certificate gives Amelia’s name as Marie Preston formerly Preston, but I also cannot find a Marie Preston marrying an Arthur Preston.

Second problem is that I cannot find an Arthur Preston being born in Portsea around 1880.

Any help/suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / John Frederick PRESTON and May Frances
« on: Sunday 14 July 13 10:12 BST (UK)  »
Can anybody help please.

John Frederick PRESTON born John Preston in Hull in 1862 (author and actor) is on the 1911 census as a visitor in Dudley with his wife May Frances (born London 1884).

It states they were married in 1903, but in fact they were not married and I am trying to establish the surname of May Frances, but with no success so far.

Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Australia / Leonard Bernard HARROP 1910-1990
« on: Thursday 25 April 13 18:24 BST (UK)  »
Some information for any relatives or people researching into Leonard, son of Herbert Booth Harrop and Elizabeth Bird.

A biography of Leonard has been written entitled 'Reluctant Romance' which provides a lot of fascinating information about him.

For anybody interested copies can be ordered from www.hargenpublications.weebly.com

« on: Tuesday 12 February 13 14:57 GMT (UK)  »
I live in Bristol and wonder if anybody can help me by telling me where two 1871 locations of my relatives are/or are near to today in Tintwistle.

The addresses are Oddfellows Cottages and it looks like Miller (or Mellor) and Jayne's Cottages.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Cheshire Lookup Requests / TINTWHISTLE - Hall Wall Well
« on: Tuesday 30 October 12 16:16 GMT (UK)  »
In the 1841 and and 1851 census's, a relative of mine is listed as living at Hall Wall Well, Tintwistle.

That name/location does not appear to exist today and I wondered if anybody with more local knowledge than I possess would be able to give me any more information as to the location.

Many thanks.

South Africa / HELP PLEASE WITH MARRIAGE RECORD CAPE TOWN
« on: Monday 07 May 12 19:40 BST (UK)  »
I live in the UK and have come across a relative who married in South Africa in the Western Cape - Cape Town area.

Whilst I'm reasonably experienced in family history research, this is the first time I've come across relatives in S. Africa and would appreciate some help.

Frederick Rudd married a Grace Suzanna Preston, nee Winton between 1898 and 1907.  Can anybody please tell me if it will be possible to get hold of a copy of the marriage record or similar.

Thanks in advance

I live in the UK and wondered if anybody could help me with a query.

Is it possible to obtain copies of Western Australia (Perth) Divorce Records from 1945 and if so how does one go about it please?

Thanks
