I don't how feasible this request is, and I do quite understand if it's not possible, as there doesn't appear to be much information.

There is a Pallot marriage listed for:

Limehouse 1821 - James Archbell of St John Wapping and Mary Harvey.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if someone would be kind enough to confirm a marriage entry for me.  If possible I'd like to have any additional information entered:

4 May 1814 - Thomas Clark and Mary Archbell

My original information comes from IGI, but I believe this is confirmed by a bequest in the will of James Archbell, ship chandler of Wapping, dated 1851 "to my niece Mary Clark, wife of Thomas Clark, Lighterman".

Any help would be must appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi:  I think I may have posted my original look-up request this morning in the wrong forum, so apologies if I am confusing everyone by submitting the same request twice!!

I've found an IGI baptism (an extraction not a submission, so I'm pretty confident it's there) for Jane Archbold, daughter of William and Hannah Archbold at St Cuthbert, York on 28 May 1852.  However, I believe that the surname should be Archbell, but I would be very pleased to receive confirmation one way or the other, together with any additional information in the register.  My one concern is that Jane Archbell was not registered in the York registration district until the September quarter of 1852.

Completed Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Requests / St Cuthbert, York COMPLETED

Hi:  does anyone have access to the parish registers for St Cuthbert in York?  If anyone does, would they mind doing a "look-up" for me?  I've found an IGI baptism in 1852 - 28 May - for Jane, daughter of William and Hannah Archbold, although I believe the surname should be Archbell.  Would be very grateful for confirmation one way or the other, together with any other information shown on the register.  My concern is that Jane Archbell was registered in York registration district in the September quarter of 1852, some time therefore after the supposed baptism!.  Thanks in advance.

Armed Forces / Boer War - Damant's Horse and Cape Colony Cycle Corps
« on: Thursday 28 August 08 13:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi:  I'm new to Rootschat, so just hope I'm in the right area!!

I've come across a couple of possible family members who were involved in the Boer War.

Trooper 38321 Frederick John Harry Archbell, Damant's Horse (aka Rimington Guides) died 26 March 1902.

Private 24968 Harry Archbell, Cape Colony Cycle Corps served 10 January 1901 to 16 April 1902

Does anyone have any idea if there are any records, other than at Kew.

I think they both originated in the UK, although there are Archbells resident in South Africa but I'm told that these two are probably not from the South African connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
