Remember you can also sign up for name alerts,  just provide the names/surnames of any medals you are trying to locate and we will let you know when we locate them.

We are also now supporting Help For Heroes - details can be found on the website.

If you are a dealer/collector and want to add your medals to the list for people to locate then please contact me.

The Medal Reunited Project Update

The project has now reached over 1000 medals in its first week.  We were also lucky enough to reunite a medal within 48 hours of the list going live!

We have also launched an alert system,  sign up to our mailing list and provide names you are interested in and we will alert you with matches.

We are also now working to support Help for Heroes through a small finders fee and encouraging donations for our services.

You can view more details on the website

Thank you

hi,

did you have any luck contacting them?  They have all burials at both sites computerised so they can search by surname.

I live a couple of minutes away from both locations and im there quite often,  let me know if you have issues or if you would like me to try and get some pictures for you.

Armed Forces / The Medal Reunited Project - Update
« on: Saturday 14 May 11 15:57 BST (UK)  »
Hey,

I have today uploaded the first 60  WW1 medals located.  You can view the list at https://web.archive.org/web/20130222040617/http://www.uvgenealogy.co.uk/29701.html
Moderator Comment: This is an archived link as that website no longer exists.

I am updating still as we speak and aim to have the locations of over 100 medals, searchable by Surname or Service number by the end of today.

Ill update as often as possible.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I have not revealed the locations of these medals and you will need to contact me for further information regarding this.

This project is not a commercial enterprise so i am trying to limit any potential advertising conflict, hence the reason for not revealing current owners of these medals.

Cheers

The Common Room / The Medal Reunited Project
« on: Wednesday 11 May 11 18:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys,

Recently i have been trying to reunite a WW1 service medal, with an appropriate descendant.  Unfortunately I have been unable to locate anyone and it made me think about how many medals of our ancestors are held by private collectors, medal dealers alike.

I had an idea and wanted to run it past people first.  I have begun putting together a list of medals available on the internet via online dealers, ebay etc and have emailed many of them for a list of names, service numbers and medal types they hold.  I will list this on my website so people can see what is available.  It would be good to also be able to get a list of this information for people searching for medals also that can easily be cross referenced and hopefully some matches found.

Obviously no personal information would be displayed only a unique "seekers ID" and the name, service number and medal type being sourced.

I know personally i have been searching for my ancestors medals for many years and always stop and look in antiques shop if passing.  I think it would be good to have a central database.

Before i get too involved any feedback and thoughts would be appreciated.

many thanks

nikw
