Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Grave Search if anyone can help - Watford
« on: Tuesday 07 October 08 16:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

If they lived in vicarage road it is most likely they are buried at the vicarage Road cemetry.  It is the oldest cemetery in Watford.  The only other is North Watford Cemetry.  They are both run by the same people and can be contacted on 01923 672157 i have spoken to the woman there several times when doing my own research, and they have a computerised record system they can look at over the phone for you for both sites.

If you find out which cemetery it is and a plot i can take a picture for you if you like?

Somerset / Re: ALWAY Family - Wellington
« on: Tuesday 23 September 08 12:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Thank you for that.  The problem is that the James i am looking for is married to Emma and living with sons frederick and Sidney in paddington 1891.  At the same time there is a James Alway living in Kensington with Sarah.  Both born 1839 in Wellington.

There are 2 James Always  1881 census again both born 1839 Wellington (james and sarah in kensington) and (James and Ellen living in bristol).  I orogonally thought Ellen and Emma might be the same person but have a distinct age difference.

On 1851 census there is a another James Alway born 1839 parents James and Rachel.  They are all Carpenters, same years, same places of birth.

From your information it appears James married to sarah is likely to be the son of Thomas so perhaps the James i need is James and Rachels son?

This is what i ment by not appearing on census as cannot fathom if there are 2 or 3 JAmes always born 1839 wellington?

London and Middlesex / Ropkins Family - Clerkenwell
« on: Tuesday 23 September 08 02:11 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Looking for any information surrounding the family of Cabinet Makers and Jewellers from Clerkenwell.  Does anyone know if possible to find out information regarding their employment.  Several are listed as having own business and can trace the ropkins as cabinet makers in clerkenwell back to 1780  via a will i found and census shows family still doing this in 1901

The main names are john, Robert, George.

Also i know that their brother Joshua had a family jewellers on the Holloway road in london from 1870 until at least 1901 as listed on census throughout that time as jeweller and own business.  I know that half the family stayed in clerkenwell as cabinet makers and the other half to Islington to run a jewellers.

If anyone knows how i can trace these businesses via apprenticeships or business records???

Help Appreciated

Many thanks

DESPERATELY seeking any information on Edwin Josiah Haynes  b. 1847 cambs but moved to islington in 1860's and was editor for Timber Trade Journals.  Various books listed in national archives but any other info would be very much appreciated.

Also cannot find where he is buried - he was living 5 minutes from Highgate cemetry most of his life but died in Brighton but have confirmed he is not buried there.  Believe he is buried with wife Annie Elizabeth Haynes died Feb 1919 langdon park road, islington.  Edwin died April 1931.

If anyone has any info or idea where could be buried would be appreciated as have checked most local cemetries and no luck.  Or if anone has the ability to check Highgates records.

Lots to ask but any info much appreciated.

Hello,

Annie Elizabeth Jarvis - born St martins in the field but birth certificate has no father listed.  Marriage certificate from St Judes church Islington 1876 to Edwin Josiah Haynes lists father Thomas Barugh, but asterix to indicate additional information on original entry.  Would appreciate if anyone can look at what this says??

Many thanks

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Emily Elizabeth Boman
« on: Tuesday 23 September 08 00:42 BST (UK)  »
Emily Elizabeth Boman - Born 1824 - Isleham.   - need mother and father.

Her marriage certificate (1844) shows no father.  If anyone has access to Isleham Parish Records would be very much appreciated if mother and father are listed as family do not appear on 1841 census either?

Thanks

Nik
