Hi Shane

Thank you so so much for all this valuable information.  In time I will look into it all and when I have the money will send off for the certificates.  Your time and help is much appreciated.  Another person messaged me about James saying that Chatham was a Royal Navy Dock and that James was a stoker and he was obviously with the Royal Navy.  I can't believe how much information has been collated in such a short space of time.

Once all the info is gathered it will be interesting to find out exactly when Granddad went to Ireland, obviously there in 1908 when he married and hopefully one day I will be able to trace what happened to him, where he ended up and when he died.

Once again thank you for all your help.

Kind Regards

Kathryn

Hiya

Thanks for your message, would I not need a date of birth for James to enable someone to search?  This is all exciting stuff for me.

Kind regards

Wow Shane, I think you may well be right, the first child born to granddad and grandma was also called Ada, this seems to much of a coincidence not to be right.  I look forward to hearing from you again if you have any more leads and as before your help and time is much appreciated.  I'm so excited now.  Granddad did end up being in the Army at some point in Atholone with the Royal Field Artillery, if things start to match up and hopefully there is now a date or at least a month and year of both I will be able to send off for his army records.

I can't believe this is happening after so much searching.  As you probably know it's not easy to search in Ireland from England, but I wondered at one point if he was from England because no one could ever find him in Ireland.  I've had some people go to the records office and they haven't been able to trace him.

Once again, thanks for all your help and I look forward to hearing from you with any more news if available.

Kind Regards

Kathryn

Hi Shane, you have been so helpful.  Have gone to the National Archives link you sent me but can't find the Household link.  I will shortly look on the other sites you gave me.  I have to just pop to a neighbours house for a while and will then be back.  Can you please give me if possible a step by step guide to get to the household link, sorry am being a bit blonde today.  Have just returned from Ireland, Galway in fact to meet a lady who I didn't know existed until earlier this year and she is my half sister on my father's side.  Sadly I did not have time to tracel to Cork, only in Ireland for three days but plan to return and go to Cork to visit places where I know my father etc was at a time.  But as before Granddad has been a mystery.  Even this sister I just visited doesn't know anything as sadly she too was adopted at birth.

Once again Shane, kind regards

Kathryn

Hi Shane

Oh my goodness, where did you get that name from, have just googled Chaltam and it doesn't come up with anything but there is a Chaltan in Hertfordshire which is in England.  Sorry, am excited now, on what document does it show that his birthplace was the name given?  Have also whilst writing this reply received your further message about Kent.  Obviously you have access to certain sites am wondering please if you could look up then granddad in this place called Chalton and see if it comes up with anything.

Kind regards again

Hi again Shane

That is my grandfather and grandmother.  Have found a date of birth and death for grandma but granddad seems very elusive.  This is what I am trying to trace, granddads date of birth and where he was born and am trying to find a death for him.  The trail goes cold with him.

Kind regards again

Hi, am desperately trying to find info on my grandfather George Richard Bryant and if possible on his father too James Bryant.  Can't find a census for 1901 or before for the area that covers Ballincollig.  My grandfathers marriage certificate states that before he was married in 1908 in the City of Cork he lived in Ballincollig.  This is the only info I have so I wonder if there is a census before 1908 for that area that may bring him up.  His father was a James Bryant whose profession is given as a leading stoker.  Can anyone please assist by looking at various censuses before 1908 please.  I have no idea when granddad was born or if indeed he was born in Ballincollig.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

I am trying to trace the marriage of my great grandmother's parents.  Michael Curran and Julia Curran.  Julia's maiden name was Knowd.  They had a daughter and possibly other children but Anne/Annie was born on 22 September 1865 in Doneany.  I am trying to trace their marriage and if possible anything else about them.  Can you help please?  I think they may have married between the years of 1855 and 1863.

Regards
