Many of the Wills on the Norfolk Record Office site are available to view on Family Search, mainly Consistory Court and Archdeaconry of Norwich - but they take some finding!

Found the Will of William Broughton  1711 - again, you need to be signed in to Family Search to view it.

Here you go - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6LJ4-TPT?i=1528&cat=410095

Hi again,

Found a marriage bond for William Broughton and Sarah Neale, but it doesn't give a great deal of information, other than William lived in Norwich and Sarah in Horningtoft.
(You have to be signed in to Family Search to see the image)

I'm sure I've read somewhere that most Methodists married in Anglican churches - which doesn't help at all really does it

Like you, Christian, I find it difficult to believe that a couple would have Church of England baptsms for most of their children, and just one in a non-conformist church  ???

Norfolk Record office have a good index of Wills.
I've already looked, but couldn't see anything promising.

Here's a link to the search page for Wills and Administrations

Hello Christian,

Like you, I couldn't find a maiden name for any of the baptisms by William and Elizabeth Broughton.

There is an interesting burial record though, of a Sarah Broughton. (FreeReg)
Buried St Mary Coslany, 27 June 1787, daughter of William and Elizabeth. Note in register says "mother - late E. Finch

The only baptism I could find was at St. Augustine, 29 June 1783, Sarah, daughter of William and Elizabeth Broughton

I've looked at the entry for Elizabeth Broughton baptism in the register for Norwich Tabernacle in 1770, but it doesn't give any further information, sadly

Hi again,

Both ships were Barques - three or more masted sailing ships.
I know not why Juventa was later a Brigantine (2 masted)
Another description of her - http://www.rootschat.com/links/01nmz/

To give you an idea of her size, HMS Endeavour, a barque (though obviously much earlier, and a Royal Navy ship) has very similar measurements

Seems Aristides was wrecked off the Brazilian coast - http://www.dippam.ac.uk/ied/records/50848

The Lloyds Register is good too, but needs a bit more searching.

Home and search page -  http://www.maritimearchives.co.uk/lloyds-register.html

And a little information about Juventa - http://www.searlecanada.org/sunderland/sunderland123.html#juventa

I've found the "Clip" site quite useful.
I've had a quick look, and it seems "Inventa" is in fact Juventa.

You can search for ships by name or number

Norfolk / Re: Maria Landamore of Wroxham

Interesting snippet from the Norfolk News, 14 October 1854

"I Matthew Custance, Wroxham, Norfolk hereby give notice that I will not be responsible for any Debt or Debts which may be incurred by my wife, Maria after this date, October 14th 1854"

And earlier similar notice, 7 February 1852 in the Norfolk News, which also adds "she having left me without my consent"

Wonder if she went back to using her maiden name.

Could it be Martha?

A Martha Wilkence was baptised at Easton Royal 22 February 1719/20 by William and Mary Wilkence
(Wiltshire OPC baptisms)
