Hi,
The sort of help I wanted, is what you have provided. I suppose that contacting the Meath Forum, I might get someone who recognises the names and provide a link, but that would be a very optimistic target. My DNA data comes from Ancestry as do the connections. I know how difficult it is to trace Irish ancestors as I have been trying unsuccessfully for many years but you either give up or keep trying, in the hope that you will come across a link. I was hoping that this relatively small location my help me. I presume that all of my connections need to be on DNA Painter to use the facility of mapping Chromosome sequences?

I know that my 2X GG’s came from Louth, Ireland according to the English Census of 1851, when they had moved to Co. Durham to work in the mines. I have many DNA connections from Louth and Monaghan but cannot link them to my names, which are Hugh Connor b c1815 and Mary McNany or variations, b c1823.
I have recently noticed the name Woods cropping up on some of my DNA’s and thought that I would follow them up. So I looked up the subject location and found about 8 with the name Woods, some appeared to be knighted and a couple with the name Worsop. It seems a real coincidence that these people all have a DNA connection with me and have relatives from Dunshaughlin. I need to see if I can connect them to Mary and Hugh and am looking for observations on what I have found and I how to follow it up. As Meath is adjacent to Louth/Monaghan it is possibly for relatives to migrate between those counties with little difficulty. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have been trying to find my Irish roots through my 2X GG's Hugh O'Connor born c 1816 and Mary McNany McEneany or variants born c 1825. They were both illiterate, so I could not be sure the records are correctly spelled. On the 1851 English Census, they are shown as living with the subject and his wife Mary, in Sunderland. There were other lodgers all Irish and if I have read it correctly were described as 'Cousins" Their place of origin was given as Louth, but based on my DNA connections, my closest is from Monaghan. Having been unable to find a birth record or marriage certificate for Hugh and Mary, I am trying to find connections through location and knowing where Michael McMahon came from, might be useful. Once again, I can find no birth record.My DNA connections and their trees, suggest that McMahon, Rooney, Kelly and Ward are possible relatives, but I simply cannot link any with my Hugh and Mary. Can anyone help, please?

« on: Wednesday 26 February 20 18:59 GMT (UK) »It is 900kb but it would help you if you made the image a little smaller 1700kb wide is very wide for a small image. I would normally make mine about 800 or 900 pixels with a highter dpi which would then make the writing clearer.
