Carmarthenshire / Re: Looking for Info on Joseph Hancock

Doing a bit of research on Ancestry I seem to be descended from Joseph Hancock too - via his daughter Jane (b around 1748) who married a Benjamin Morris.  Joseph would have been my 5xgrt grandfather.

Only had this info online though so not seen any original records locally.

Jane's daughter Elizabeth (b 1793) from Llansadurnan married a David Raymond (b 1791) of Crunwear Farm, Llanteg.  The Raymond name came down through the family and my mother and her siblings had it as part of their names - ie Raymond Harry.

Devon / Exeter Prison inmate - 1960s
« on: Saturday 22 December 18 16:01 GMT (UK)  »
Is there any way I find details of someone who served maybe 6months in Exeter Prison - the person is long deceased?
I think I tried the prison itself a few years ago to no avail.  They would have been sentenced in Cardiff - but I had no joy there either.
Seems odd that you can access 19c records with pictures etc but nothing for the more recent past.

Oh thank you RedMystic for the lovely update - such a surprise to see the great pictures.

It is a credit to everyone involved that the grave was found and the headstone installed - as well as it being kept tidy now.  It would put some graveyards in the UK to shame.

Having to take a gun to a graveyard is something new to us here in Britain!

Thanks for the offer of the pics - I'll message you.

Thanks again for the update.

Have been able to add in all the info provided for Harmans - thanks very much Trish and Martin.

Not got Ancestry membership live at present so cannot go delving much there.

Still unsure what the HYDE connection is but as Kezia pops up in the Harman tree too it may be a family name - not that common.

I've sent you a private message Martin so if you want to give me your email I'll invite you to snoop around my tree on Ancestry.

I'm on Find my Past for now so may do some more delving there.

Thanks for inspiring me again - its been a while since I did this line.

Thanks for all that Trish - carry on getting carried away!  All interesting and I'll see how they work into my tree.  Much appreciated.

I'll send Martin a message instead.

Hi Martin.  Thanks for the reply.  George would have been Joseph's brother and my husbands 3xgrt uncle!

I have quite a bit on an Ancestry tree but nothing more on George's line.  If you want to send me a message we can chat about things.
