The Common Room / Carroll to Caron?
« on: Wednesday 08 September 10 19:48 BST (UK)  »
I would really appreciate some advice please on the possibility of a birth being registered in 1875 with the surname spelled incorrectly.

I am trying to find a birth record for Henrietta Carroll, born about 1875 in Monmouthshire but I have been unable to find it.  I have found that this surname has been transcribed incorrectly on various census records, I have even found it listed as Carrde on the 1891 census!)

The only birth recorded that is a possibility is for a Henrietta Caron, Mar qtr 1875, Bedwellty, Monmouthshire.
This date and area is just right.

I have looked at the 1881 to 1901 census for both Wales & England and also for death records for Henrietta Caron but have found nothing. Do you think then that it could be Henrietta Carroll but was entered in the register incorrectly?

Or am I just barking up the wrong tree in desperation?

Would welcome any advice.

Cork / Do you know where North Centre,Cork is?
« on: Tuesday 07 September 10 18:42 BST (UK)  »

Just hoping that some one will be able to help me.

 My G Grandmother was christened in 1871 at 129, 3 North Centre,Cork.

I have googled the address but haven't been able to find any information.  I can't seem to find out where this would be, although I'm pretty sure it was in Cork City.

I don't know if it was an RC church or a COI church.

If any one can give me any ideas I would be most grateful.

The Common Room / G Grandad in Durham Jail

Have found my great grandfather in the 1881 census in "Her Majestys Prison",Old Elvet,Durham! He was a soldier at the time but I don't know what regiment he was with. Can anyone give me any idea where I can get any information on what he was 'inside' for. His home county was Denbighshire and he was  back home by the 1891 Census, so it couldn't have been too serious a crime!

Monmouthshire / Murder of Mary Griffiths, Plantation Street
« on: Monday 02 August 10 20:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Does anyone have any information on the death of Mary Griffiths of Plantation Street, Rhymney in about 1932.

Older family members say she was murdered by her husband and the case was reported in the national newspapers.

Would welcome any information.

Regards
