I had a 2 x Gt granddad who died in 1868 as a ferryman & shoemaker at the side of the river Aire in Knottingley, Yorkshire, he had been called to ferry a man across the river, unfortunately Gt granddad fell out of the boat crossing the river to pick the man up at the otherside in a fast flow of the river and drowned.  :(

Hi all

Just wonder if anyone can dig a little info online about this couples life in Canada

Its a bit vague, but all I've got, Fred moved to Canada about 1905 and his wife Alice Taylor nee Tidmarsh was with her father 1911c Samuel Tidmarsh sr (br Balsall Warwickshire 1844) with her daughter Ruth Agnas Taylor. Alice and daughter Ruth, they sailed of Canada to join Fred Taylor June 1911 onboard the Laurentic
