Derbyshire / Some Clowne church records found
« on: Wednesday 17 November 21 06:02 GMT (UK)  »
Clowne St John the Baptist Church.

All Clowne St John registers stop at about 1900 and after thought lost.

I was talking to the Vicar of both Clowne and Barlborough church's outside Clowne church in the restrictions last year as I was tending my parents crem memoral stone. Its seems they have found some records on a self that could be parish registers or burial records but no churchyard plot map. The victor said she would be sending these records to the Derbyshire records office in Matlock eventually but till the covid19 restrictions were over she would keep hold of them.

Hi,

This is linked to another thread trying to find Pitt Royd (Pytt Royde) in link below.

Hey is the family research name, Thornhill parish had William Hey (born late 1700's) at Pit Royd near Netherton, and the 1841c for Netherton area had a George Hey aged 15 living Whitely near Netherton village on a farm.

By 1851 c George Hey had moved on but the farmer he worked for David White age 55 wife Sarah White age 45 on the 1841c and still there on the same farm  in 1851c, being David age 65 then and wife Sarah age 55

The member who started the thread has put a newspaper snippet of places very close to Pitt Royd being Windy Bank, Hawsworth and states Pitt royd is just of a lane that runs from Netherton to Stocks moor (Most likely South Lane)

As the Enumerators is a little vague 1841 - I thought using Farmer David White age 65 in 1851c will bring up the route of the Enumerators route that may give Pitt Royd and near locations in his area of Netherton.

I would appreciate a 1851c look please.

Rest of info see links ( See bottom of page 4 Rootschat  for 1841c names listed inlink)

Derbyshire / Boarder at granddads house
« on: Tuesday 09 March 21 18:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, All

Since I completed most of my family as a subscribed member of Ancestry, I use the library edition of ancestry for the few researches of my own tree and members of Rootschat also since lockdown libraries are closed. Hence can't look up the history of Henry porter and maybe a member of this website would like to pick up the challenge for something to do in lockdown.

I was looking at my mother born 1908 in Duckmanton in Derbyshire and later her family moved to Carr Vale near Bolsover. There was a boarder living with my granddad Herbert (Illiterate [hence Mary filled out the 1911 census form} and Mary Tidmarsh 8, Orchard Row, Carr Vale. Bolsover. on the 1911 census

Henry Porter aged 28, born Spondon (in the GRO registration area of  Shardlow, Derbyshire in th 2nd Qtr June 1883.) a  Drayman for Thomsons or Great central railway.

Hi,

The Clowne church graveyard burial grave records only go to 1909 held at Derbyshire records office - all burial grave records post 1909 were missing, Well the new lady vicar of 3 years found the grave burial records of recent at the back of a wide shelf in the vestry and which contain post 1909 burials.

Because of COVID 19 lockdown at the moment !! the records are being kept by the lady vicar ! but when normality is retuned ? she will deposit the burial grave records in the Derbyshire records office at Matlock Derbyshire.

Unfortunately the Churchyard burial ground plot maps are missing but date & name on grave headstones do help locate graves with no headstone with the info in the burial record burial dates.
