Aberdeenshire / George Mitchell
« on: Friday 16 June 06 21:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I've hit a brickwall with my ggggrandfather George MITCHELL.
He married Isobel ARCHIBALD at Grange on 8 Oct 1814. Their children were born in Forgue. I'm keen to find out who his parents are and where he was born but by the 1841 Census Isobel is a widow.
I've checked the MI's on ANESFHS but there isn't an entry for him or Isobel (she died in Forgue in 1867)
All I have is an OPR marriage extract from SP which states that George is of the parish of Drumblade. Would this mean that he was born there or just that he was living there at the time?
I have found a birth in SP for a George Mitchel in Drumblade on 27 Dec 1783, father...James Mitchel but can't be sure that it's correct.
I'd be grateful for any thoughts or suggestions.

Aberdeenshire Lookup Requests / James HENDERSON Monquhitter
« on: Tuesday 18 April 06 12:27 BST (UK)  »

I'd be really grateful for any help on James HENDERSON born about 1781 in

Monquhitter. SP have the birth of a James HENDERSON born 22/6/1780 in

Monquhitter  - father James HENDERSON which is a probable. I know that he

married Jannet STEIL but can't find a marriage date. In the 1841 and 1851

Census they are living in Garmond, Monquhitter and in the 1851 Census Jannet

is stated as being born in Old Pitsligo.

I can't find deaths for either of them so have to presume that they both died

pre 1855.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Looking for anyone who recognises/connects with this family

Ewen McRae married to Jessie McRae 1 Mar 1860 at Kintail
Their children - Farquhar b.1860, John b.1863, Ann b.1866, Flora b.1869, Alexander b.1872, Peter b.1875, Donald b.1877, Bella b.1881and Helen b.1883.
I know that Farquhar married Isabella Turner, Flora married Robert McRaild, Ann married Ewen McMillian and Bella married Donald McPherson.

The 1871 Census places the family in Garryualach, Glengarry.
By the 1891 Census they are at Lochournhead, Parish of Glenelg and are still there in 1901.

I'm almost positive that Ewen's parents were Farquhar and Catherine McRae/Macrae who in 1841 and 1851 were living on Skye at Camasunary Farm.
Jessie McRae's parents were John and Flora McRae and she was born in 1842 at Glenshiel.

I'd love to hear from anyone who connects to any of them. Thanks for looking.
