Hello W et al.
I have 4 or 5 photos of teams at Moure Grange taken 1950 - 1950.
Too big to load onto this site.
Anybody want a copy/copies?

Armagh / Re: ANNETT families Cargans and Tandragee
« on: Monday 12 December 22 14:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Heather Cook,
I have a Thomas Annett (b.8 Feb 1881) at Drummnascamph, Rathfriland, whose f. was John Annett and m. was Sarah Bell.
Thomas m. Elizabeth Ann Irvine (1884 - 1931) of Drumlough on 6 Jan 1914 at Newry Registrar's Office.
Thomas was a horse trainer, as his father before him.
Thomas and Eliz Ann lived in Lisbane, Tandragee. I have this note in my Tree:-  "Thomas never administered his wife's  Probate and so it was left to (another) Lizzie Annett to do so. This may be the Lizzie mentioned in the Obit of William8 O'Neill" (1874-1941).
I have not followed up this connection. The exigencies of a dissolute life have finally caught up with me.
But I do hope this may be helpful and wish you and yours a very merry Christmas.

Longford / Re: Same family of Percivals in Longford and Leitrim
« on: Monday 19 April 21 15:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello Linny1,
Everyone who has an interest in Co. Longford must have a copy of “St Paul’s Historic Graveyard Newtownforbes, Co. Longford” Burial Records from 1696 to 2016. Contact Maura and Desmond Mooney at Meadow Court, Newtownforbes.
I have been remiss in not following up the Percivals in Australia and so completely missed out your direct connection to the Percival Aircraft Co. And its great part in aviation history.
You have no idea how wonderful it is to have a real “Biggles” type in my “O’Neill and Lockhart Family Tree” and now to look forward to name dropping amongst the descendants of all the various vagabonds, charlatans and snake-oil salespersons I seem to have collected on it over the years.

But I do need some cross-checking with the details of Henry Percival (1823-1895) and perhaps you may accept this challenge:-
Henry, son of John P and Anne Rosemond-
Went to Australia with his brother Arthur in 1853 and
Returned to Ireland 1859 and
Married Frances Percival 20 Dec 1860 and
Had a dau Annie P in 1862 and
Returned to Australia about 1862 and
Returned to Ireland in 1889 and
Married Selina Moore in 1891 and
Had dau Selina Roy Percival in 1892 and
Died in 1895. Do not know location of grave.

I thought that our Henry had a slightly riotous life but it was only later that I followed his other connections in Dublin. This brought me to the Moore/Stephenson family of Drogheda, and to the Wilkins family. William Wilkins MA was a Headmaster of the High School in Dublin and since my grandson would be going there I decided to take a look at their web site. This time I decided that I would follow through with these Wilkins and check them all, one by one. Oh dear! Follow the trail from William to Edgar to Maurice and you will see what perseverance can do!

Talking about DNA, you boast that you have had your DNA done. Well, I had mine done, and you are nowhere in sight. Hmmm… you did mention something about being the wrong side of the blanket. Ha!
I have 594 fourth cousins or closer and I do admit that I wake up in the middle of the night and think “what have I done to deserve all this?”

Let us know what you think about our Henry!
David

Hello All--
The original hand-written volume containing the 1821 Census is held by PRONI.
I know - I handed it in to them!

Louth / Re: Postman in the 1911 census Dundalk.
« on: Sunday 07 January 18 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
There are about 60 Stewarts listed in the 1911 Census living in Dundalk.

Maybe there is a connection here.......?
My tree informs that a John Stewart (1853-1914) m. Flora Watt (1856-1930) probably in Comber, Co. Down.
Their son William Stewart (1877-1944) m. Martha McFerran (1878-1971) and he was a Sorting Clerk (1901) and an Overseer (1911) at the Dundalk Post Office. Am sure he would have known those who did not return.

Armagh / Re: O'Neill - Master of Lurgan Workhouse
« on: Sunday 31 December 17 15:58 GMT (UK)  »
James O'Neill (1850-1922) and Sarah Balmer (1846-1915) had (amongst others):-
John Henry O'N (1873-1949)
James Bell O'N (1888-1922)
William James O'N (1874-?)
Am trying to find details of William James...
Was he an undertaker (like his father) as reported in 1923 in Canal St, Newry?
Was he the undertaker who had an establishment in 1927 in Sugar Island, Newry?
Much appreciate if any denizens of Newry (or anywhere) can help.
And a Happy 2018 to You All!
Hamlets.

Antrim / Re: John Wilson of Hillman St, Dock Ward may have married Margaret Shanks
« on: Tuesday 05 April 16 11:20 BST (UK)  »
Hello Morton 123!
The only tentative info I have is that James Wilson (1882-1959) m Agnes Ferguson (1884-1965) and their son John was b.1910.
In this tree of Hamiltons and Fergusons I have not a single Morton. The Mortons I have are in another tree connected to Newry and north Co. Louth.
Wish I could be more helpful.

To "LJBeastie"-
Re your reply No 53 on 1st January last, I have thought about your cri de coeur for information on distant relatives. My ancestry tree is the one that will provide many answers to your questions, having over 1200 persons, the result of over ten years toil. Up to now I have kept it "private". But it is now time to let go and let it drift for all in cyberspace.  But before I can do this I must 1) obtain the consent of two relatives who have provided much personal information and 2) review all information, remove living persons etc.
Target date? Say the end of February.
Regards,
hamlets
