Hello,

Could someone please be kind enough to check for me if there is a Lucy Worsey, or anyone by the name of Cartwright living in High Street, Nantwich, in the 1871, 1881, and possibly even the 1891 Censuses ?

Thankyou.

Cheshire / 1841 Census: Sampson & Emma Cartwright
« on: Tuesday 14 June 05 23:37 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the whereabouts of Sampson (aged 57) and Emma (aged 58) Cartwright in the 1841 Census.

In 1851, they appear, I believe,  at Cheerbrook Cottage, Willaston, Nantwich.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Hello

Can you give me any information at all on Sampson Cartwright, born Nantwich 1784, died Willaston 1864, or on his son, Sampson Edward Cartwright, born Nantwich, 1809, died London, 1891?

I understand that Sampson Edward emigrated to South Africa, possibly in the 1850s, and possibly taking his son, John Dean Cartwright with him. I have no idea how long he stayed there, or when or why he returned.

Or anything on William Cartwright, born Willaston c1796?

Any information on anything at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Neil

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1861 & 1871 Census John Cartwright

Hi, can anybody help?

I'm trying to trace a John Cartwright in the 1861 Census. He was born in Nantwich, Cheshire in 1837.

In 1851, he was living in Nantwich, aged 13 as an apprentice shoemaker. Then he disappears.

He turns up again, it seems,  in the 1871 Census,  living in East Wellhead, Heeley, Hallam, Sheffield, aged 32, as a boot and shoemaker. By this time, he was married to Sarah Ann, also aged 32. She was born in Sheffield.

Later censuses seem to place him in Northampton (1881), Liverpool (1891) and although he was deceased by this time, his family were in Wallasey in 1901. If it's one and the same person, I've no idea why he moved around such a lot.

In a sense, as he seemed to move around a lot (?) he could be virtually anywhere. However, as he turned up in Sheffield (could somebody verify this for me?) he might be somewhere else in Yorkshire. (I'm assuming that it's possible to search census returns coutywide??).

Anyway, if anyone could help, it would be really wonderful.

Thanks
