Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Parkgate, Dumfriesshire
« on: Sunday 10 February 19 06:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hello!

The inscription on the back of this says "This is Great Grandpa William Saunders and [Great] Aunt Jessie at their home at Parkgate with Diamond the horse and gig."

I believe it is Parkgate, Dumfriesshire in Scotland. Some info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkgate,_Dumfries_and_Galloway

Old map of the farm here: https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17&lat=55.1793&lon=-3.5370&layers=168&b=1

William Saunders (BIRTH 1840 • Old Luce, Wigtownshire, Scotland - DEATH 27 FEB 1903 • Broadwigg Farm Cottage, Whithorn, Wigtownshire, Scotland).

Jessie Saunders (BIRTH 25 DEC 1871 • Carmelo, Colonia, Uruguay - DEATH 10 OCT 1913 • Disdow, Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland).

1) I'm wondering if anyone can fix up this photo? I might be able to get a higher quality one if needed.

2) I'm also wondering if anyone can tell me about the carriage? Perhaps that would be a way to date the photograph.

Many thanks!

Hello,

Is anyone good with portuguese script? I think this is a birth record. I'm interested in the part which starts halfway down the first page and ends at the bottom of the second page.

« on: Monday 11 December 17 06:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks,

Can anyone make sense of this place within the parish of Clarendon in Jamaica?

I'm looking at the "residence at time of marriage" section.

Looks like "Old ??" but could be wrong!

Other Countries / Henry Samuel Gordon - Jamaica
« on: Friday 08 December 17 02:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm looking for birth parents of Henry Samuel Gordon. The word of mouth information I have is:
b. Nov 1916 - Beckford Kraal, Clarendon, Jamaica
m. Hilda Adina Drummond
d. 9 Sep 1990

Issue:
1. Ronald Orlando Gordon b. 14 Jan 1944 Blackwoods, Clarendon, Jamaica

I haven't found a marriage record yet which would normally provide some/all of the parent details.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / CAMBERWELL - Burial - Walter Didmon
« on: Thursday 23 November 17 04:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,
I'm trying to trace the burial location of my great great grandfather Walter Frederick Didmon. He was born 1868 in St. James and died 29 Mar 1910 at home at 86 Crystal Palace Road, Camberwell, London.

The nearest cemetery appears to be Camberwell Old Cemetery. However due to overcrowding, Camberwell New Cemetery was founded in 1901 so it's possible Walter is buried there. Another option is Nunhead Cemetery.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Neil
