Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark / Re: George Henry le Geyt's second marriage
« on: Saturday 11 September 21 10:42 BST (UK)  »
Isabella Le Geyt née Furzer died of Meningitis on 22 March 1897 aged 31 and George Henry married  Matilda Furzer between Dec 1898 and June 1901, both George and Matilda are entered on page 89/100 of the non-conformist index so the marriage was probably early 1901. Furzer is not a common Jersey name so I'd be very surprised if they weren't sisters.
Matilda died on 8 February 1943 aged 70.
George outlived both his wives and died in 1950.

All of the above from the Jersey Archive site

The information is on the Jersey Archive site along with many other references to the Cavey, Ball, Egland and Feltham families. Full entries and images of original docs can only be viewed with a subscription - www.jerseyheritage.org

During the Occupation a Joan Mabel Cavey, born in 1922, was living at the same address in Journeaux Street.
Sydney John died on 27 Nov 1951 and is buried in St Saviour's cemetery.
Mabel Sarah Cavey, née England died on 6 Feb 1956 and is buried in the same grave as her husband.

If you look at the entry on the Jersey Archive site regarding his will you will see that there are 2 dates, the first date in the body of the description is 28 August 1873 which is when he made the will. The second date, just below the Archive reference number, is when probate was granted. A full copy of the will is available to site subscribers and I can have a proper look at that later.
The entry relating to his death is also on the Archive site only this time he's Griffiths. It's a draft version of the death register for St Helier and again the full - one line - entry is available to subscribers.
The fact that there is no burial on Ancestry implies that his funeral service was not C of E although I'm not finding him in either the funeral directors records or the St Helier burials on https://remote.posh.gov.je/genealogy/Search

In 1841 the family are living at Fletcher Place, on the other censuses they are living in Le Geyt Street.
His occupation is 'Tourner' - presumably Wood Turner
Given that many of the trees on Ancestry seem to have his children born in various states of the USA I'd take them with a pinch of salt!
He died on 10 March 1875 in Great Union Street from 'Asthme'. His age is given as 83 and his occupation as Tourner. The death was notified by a Nancy Deslandes who apparently was 'present at the death'.

The original church record on Ancestry agrees with the date recorded by the Soc.

Depends which years you are looking at -  baptisms up to 1915 are on Ancestry. After that date the indexes giving approximate dates are on the Jersey Archive site (subscription required). To get exact dates of birth you would need to contact the Jersey Registry Office but unfortunately they have been closed to researchers for the past year.

The marriage record says that she was of the parish of St Peter and the nearest one I can find was baptized on 9 Feb 1721, daughter of Elie.

Sadly not at the moment. In more normal times this could be done at the Registry Office but they are closed for the foreseeable future. You could contact them at SIR@gov.je and they may be able to look it up for you but they may also charge you for their time. If you do decide to make contact tell them that the entry for his birth is in the St Helier register volume 74 and is on page 64.
