Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Writing a FH book
« on: Sunday 30 December 12 15:31 GMT (UK)  »
I'm intending to take my website down and using Word 2000 create a book which I can refer to on my computer and print as a keepsake.

I can imagine that I'll need to create different Chapters in Word to deal with different families - but how to organise these? By generation? Maternal or paternal lineage? It would be good to illustrate the different chapters by referring to a chart, but unfortunately I don't have a programme which will print a decent chart - of say 6 generations - on one page. There are some free charts on the internet to print but I don't see anything which I could type details into and/or edit.

Any help appreciated.

I'm hoping to find an Elizabeth Riley living at 28a Nevern Place, Earls Court in 1960. Can anyone tell me if Electoral Registers are available at Record Offices for around this year and if so, where is the Record Office covering this area?

How can I find more information?

Occupation Interests / Labourer or Bargeman?
« on: Friday 18 June 10 06:41 BST (UK)  »
I have the following information from parish records:

Baptism:
New Windsor, Berkshire: 1819 Feb 14 - William Jones s/o William and Mary Jones, Bargeman of Spital

Clewer St Andrew, Berkshire:
1822 May 26 - Mary d/o William and Mary Jones, Spital Row, Lab
1826 May 7 - Charlotte d/o William and Mary Jones, Spital, Bargeman

Old Windsor, Berkshire:
1815 May 31 - Marriage of William Jones of the Castle of Windsor and May Seward, by banns.

My ancestor is William Jones b 1819 who lived in Bethnal Green but when married for the 2nd time returned to Clewer, giving Spital as residence and giving his fathers' details as William Jones, Lighterman.

I'm assuming Lighterman and Bargeman are one and the same. But could the baptism for Mary with Labourer as occupation be a sibling to my William and could the 1815 marriage of William Jones of the Castle be the father? Would the castle have bargemen?

Any other ideas as to how I can prove a connection?
