Lancashire Lookup Requests / Liverpool - trade directories
« on: Friday 23 March 07 07:37 GMT (UK)  »
Are there any trade directories for Liverpool around 1880/1881? I'm searching for an eye doctor or specialist and have an idea his name is Dighton, or something similar, with a housekeeper by the name of McAlister. Would probably be living somewhere around Upper Pitt Street.

Thanks Frances. Can I please ask the address given for J. Brown Wax Chandler? I suppose it's more than unlikely that he'd be using his middle name of Stammers as a double-barrelled surname.......

Thanks for all the replies. Frances I would very much appreciate a lookup. I have various Post Office directories and he's not in any of those but they tend to be trade only and I'm sure some of the Kellys list by street.
I don't think the Regent Street address is him. In 1841 he's in Richmond, Surrey but I can't find him or any of his family in 1851 which is a problem as I'd really like his place of birth.

Thanks but the historial directories pre 1850 don't cover the London/Middlesex area. Getting to London is a bit of a problem, but I could probably manage it sometime later on this year.

Is there such a thing as a Kellys directory for around 1818?
I've recently found out that my Joseph & Sarah Brown lived in Brown Street, Parish of St George Hanover Square and would like to know if he is mentioned. On the 1841 census his occupation was Tallow Chandler.
