Happy Boxing Day  No Chris that's too much I was hoping it was a PDF you just send in a bundle.  I found it on google books and it was all there .  The University of Washington library in Seattle has the Sussex Archeaological Collections so I will probably make it up there.  I already have the Clarks From Chris Payne at SFHG.  Can I buy  A CD of the Rye parish Records?  Cant find that either.  Should have sent a PM so feel free to edit  Thanks LIz

Yes , please Chris That would be great!  Mercy Clark Married Nickolas Harvey I believe he died end of1805-to before may of 1806 and she may have remarried a SHARVELL Probate 2Mar 1847 if anyone has it She is not in my direct line.  Where else would people be buried instead of St Mary's Rye?  I am missing Elizabeth Gravett Clark Wife of Philip (1787-1853) She died between 1818 and 1823.  Philip sent for the children in 1824 to come to America. So those are the last names I am working on   Thanks Liz

Hi Chris, Really enjoy your website. Thanks for all you work.  I am hoping this Thomas is Philip Clark's brother. Now that I have the in-laws identified as Roberts, Harvey Staffell I need the Rye church yard M.I. by G slade Butler in the Sussex Archeaological Collections #13.  I found them on Google Books fully readable and I can't get them any more.  The Philip Clark memorialized with the Staffells was Henry's brother.  He is listed as a mate on the Stag cutter in the 1790's directory.  He married Mary Machin Staffell in 1788 After Martha Avery died.  The Staffell and the Harveys had businesses on the Strand in Rye where the will of Philip Clark the Elder lists his property in the 1806 will.  Can I post a will I downloaded off the National Archives website without violating copyright?

Thanks for all your help.  Checked out the Sussex Records Society and I can buy the book but would like to know if The inquest is just a few line summary, or the whole thing with testimony and witnesses.  Henry was 73.  It might have been a mill accident( family had mill in 1806 Don't know where) Does it violate copyright for someone to send me the page? His sons in Rye were Thomas. Henry, John, and possibly Archer.  Lester, Henry, and Philip Harvey were nephews Also Richard Clark.  I'm sure there were more.

Thanks Sean and Andrea.  Live on the west coast of US but have cousins in Hampshire, so hope springs eternal.  Wow  Grave stone reads May 1832  The one who doesn't go to sea drowns.

Hello I 'm descended from Henry Clark 1759-1832 buried at Rye St Mary through his son Philip who emigrated to Illinois.  The Clarks were mariners but Henry suffered from seasickness so became a miller.  Had a corn dealer license in the 1820's also john james and fisher  Did your James have a sister Mary?  Philip and his brother Edward built the first mill on the Sangamon River in 1824.  Henry's father Philip mentions a mill in his will 1806.
