Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 lookup Canterbury Please.
« on: Thursday 02 December 04 12:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi kenny

Couldn’t find the birth of James BOURNE  1841 - 1845  Canterbury,Kent
The only possibles were:-

1843   West Ashford    June Qtr  5 13
1843   Romney Marsh   Sep  Qtr  5 386
1845   Tenterden        Sep  Qtr  5 451

Couldn’t find him on the 1871 Census

On the 1881 Census he gives his age as 38 and his and the childrens’ birthplace as Shoreditch, Middlesex

On the 1891 Census he gives his age as 48 and his birthplace as Canterbury, Kent and the childrens as Hackney

On the 1901 Census he gives his age as 60 this time, and again, his birthplace as Canterbury, Kent and the childrens as Hackney

I could not find his marriage between 1867-1877 ??

If you know Rebecca’s maiden name, I can look for their marriage, and you can then send for their marriage certificate, this will give you James father’s name.  If you don’t know it, you’ll  have to start with a copy of one of their children’s birth certificates.

I’ve found the birth of his second son :-
Frank Archibald BOURNE   Shoreditch   Mar Qtr 1878  1c 168  Not Hackney

You can order this on line which will cost £7.00, or £11.50 by post.

This should keep you out of mischief for a while   ::) ::)

Technical Help / Re: Importing tree to Genes Reunited
« on: Thursday 18 November 04 12:00 GMT (UK)  »
 ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I too have successfully imported a GEDCOM file to GenesReunited (using Family Tree Maker) and I must say I like the site - have been contacted by some genuine family members.

My problem is that they only accept one 'tree' which I find crazy, as I personally have eight trees which I would like to import.

I contacted their technical support about this and received the reply that it's possible to import all my 'trees' as one great GEDCOM file (using Family Tree Maker) - but they didn't tell me how - any suggestions anyone ??  ::) ::) ::) ::)

Completed Census Requests / Missing William John Morris on the 1891 Census - Completed
« on: Tuesday 16 November 04 10:58 GMT (UK)  »
 ??? ??? ???

I have trawled the 1891 Census looking for William John MORRIS (Farm Labourer), born in Easton, Hunts in 1866, but I can't find him anywhere !!

By 1893 he has become a Railway Plate Layer, and marries Eliza EDGSON in Salford, Lancashire, and they go on to have four children.  They all appear on the 1901 Census, but...... then he seems to go missing again as I can't find his death anywhere between 1901 and 1917 (the date of his daughter Sarah's marriage, where he is shown as deceased.)   Surely he would have been too old to have been in the 1914-1918 war ?

Any suggestions please ??

Sorry, don't go that far back in the Preston area - my Swarbricks moved to Manchester in the 1800's.
