Does anyone have access to the SARUM MARRIAGE LICENCE BONDS, I'm thinking of buying the CD from Wiltshire FHS to search for TAME marriages but wondered how comprehensive it was?

Alan
Have you tried any of the non-conformist registers, this is one of those jobs I've yet to do;

I have actually found a reference to a bap. for a Thomas Tame in East Hendred in 1692 but I don't recall ever seeing that in the parish register, does anyone have the Hendred registers?
Thanks
Tom

Hello
Thanks, I've actually been through a lot of the enclosure docs a few years ago, he is there for very small amounts of land in Ardington and Hendred.

Thanks Sue
I need to go down and work through all the local parishes to find any clue as to their origins.

Thanks Sue
When I looked at the Milton register a while ago it's fairly certain the Tames were only there for a few years, Thomas and Alice were married in S. Abingdon but I haven't got as far as tracing where they were born yet, I'm 70 miles from Reading and I only manage it once a year!

Hi Alan
Thanks for replying.  I have that wedding thank you, the Thomas who got married to Rachel had 1 brother as far as I can tell, William, but they were born in Milton to Thomas and Alice (Edney) so I think your tames are seperate, probably cousins.
I'm hoping to find time to take it back further and I'm pretty sure all the Tames in Harwell, Milton, etc are related but I think maybe about the turn of the century.
If you are interested in what I have I can e-mail you.

Thanks for your replies.  I've been through the indexes at the BRO a number of times and for other areas with no luck, the issue is one of looking in the correct place I guess.
I know for a fact that Robert Tame at least owned land and property so there must be a will/administration/probate somewhere!
Thank you

Tom

Thanks for confirming that if I can find a Will or Administration around the same date I hope to be able to confirm that it was the same Thomas as there were a few about in that area at the same time!
