Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1891 and 1901 look up please - BIRKS LIVING IN bury
« on: Wednesday 15 January 14 19:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Andy
Thank you for your message.
It is quite a while since I did any research on the Birk family and I will have to read through my notes to see how far I got.
My connection is slight.
I found out that my mother had a half brother that no one knew anything about. He was brought up by Susanah Jackson. Susannah Jackson married Sam Birks b1888 Florrie Birks bother.
I do have a fair bit of information on the family so if you need anything then just ask
Regards kath

Thank you so much for your suggestions , I will take a look at all of them.
I would imagine that the farmhouse has changed its name over the years , is it possible that the road names have also changed ?
It is situated on Wigborough road , how to I go about finding out which Manor it was in ?

I have looked on seax but have found no information that I can view online

Thanks again
Kath

PS. sorry should have said , it is grade 11 listed

Essex / finding history of 15th century property in Peldon
« on: Wednesday 10 April 13 13:55 BST (UK)  »
Hello Everyone,
my son has just bought a farm house built in the 1400's in Peldon and as a surprise for him I thought I would try to find out some of the history of the property.

As I do not know who owned the property I did an address search on the 1911 and the 1901 census but I cannot find it. Now I do not know what to do , I have been brought to a standstill before I have even got started !

Has anyone any ideas of how I can get started please ?
regards Kath

Thank you, what a really good image, all the ones I have seen on-line have not been as clear as this one.
Perhaps I can ask another question.
I have quite a few photo's of my father-in-law and other serving men ,taken in Libya,Egypt and Africa. Most of them give the mens surnames,I would like to post them on-line so that perhaps someone may find a relative, does anyone know were I could post them or perhaps post just the names ?

Hi Everyone,
just wanted to let the board know that a very kind person has told me that the badge on the second photo is of the RANGERS BATTALION of THE LONDON REGIMENT ,KINGS ROYAL RIFLE CORPS.
I have looked quickly at the movements of the regiment during the second world war and they tie in with the photographs and information I have of my father-in-law from that time.

Thank you for everyones interest
regards Kath      :)

Thank you,
I have already tried the ww2 board but no one seems to be able to identify the badge and as I think the photo was taken before the war I thought I would try here.
It was a long shot and I think the best thing for me to do now is wait for his service record ,as this can take up to a year,I will just have to be patient.
