Hello

There is a marriage registration in the second quarter of 1930 at Stockport for two people with those names. The GRO reference is 8a 272.

The marriage certificate should provide some helpful information about the groom such as his age, his job, his address at the time of the marriage and his father's name and occupation.

If you happen to know when he died it might be possible to find his age and birth date from his death registration which might, in turn, lead us to his birth registration.

Hi posteria, thanks for your reply  about my Grandmas husband william ford  yes that would be their marriage okay, perhaps I should get the marriage certificate l as like you say it should show what  his job description was.  I will also ask my Mum as william was a freind of the family, but Mum may not even remember as she is getting on now 85 and forgets things easily. but i will ask on saturday when I see here.  I looked in bmd's for a birth he may have been the william Humphries born Hyde 1908 thats the only one arround same age as gladys she was born in 1907 in Hyde. but of course its not definate.

I  have no info on William Ford only that he was maybe a constable in Police force I  did see him once when I was a young girl I remember he had a loud deep voice.
appreciate any help, no matter how small thanks.
