Essex Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 census Williams, Mundon, Essex
« on: Saturday 10 December 05 15:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Keith,

Welcome to Rootschat!

As far as I've been able to work out I think that your GGGG grandfather Francis Williams (b.1804 Mundon) is the brother of my GGG grandfather William Williams (b.1808 Mundon) (the father of Eliza and Elizabeth).

In the 1881 census William (b.1808) and Francis (down as Frances but male) seem to be living together (although it isn't stated that they are brothers)
(RG 11 1775/f31 p3)
The IGI has christenings for both a Francis Williams (1803) and a William Williams (1808) as the children of Stephen and Sarah Williams in Mundon (batch C047481) (as well as some other siblings).

I'd be happy to exchange more info. on the Mundon Williams....I haven't managed to get any further back than Stephen and Sarah but have conc. more on following the later generations....just send me a PM...and I will get back to you although I'm going to be frantically busy the next few weeks so it might have to be after that.

Best regards,

Emily

 Hi Phil,

I'm afraid that I can't help with your lookups; but have you seen this posting from Debbie?

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=86862.new#new

It seems like the two of you are both looking for the same Hawkes/Pumfrey family.

Best regards,

Emily

From the lookup just posted by Sue, Ann seems to be living in Witham in 1841

Hi,

Was Caswell cottage maybe run as some sort of girls home or school? I just found the 1901 census entry and it reads:

RG13/5083 f87 p27

Caswell Cottage
G H Dilwyn Llewellyn    b.1862  female    bn.Coln St Aldwyn, Gloucestershire, England    Head    Oystermouth    Glamorgan
occupation Matron of home
Beatrice M Daniel    b. 1868    bn Brockley, London, England    Mext?    Oystermouth    Glamorgan under matron
Then some servants..
Then some young girls aged 8-13 listed mostly as boarders occ.scholar...one is a visitor. (sorry for not listing them I'm just a bit busy today)
The girls seem to come from all over and not to have any obvious relationsip with the Llewelyns.

Hope this is some help,

Emily

The GH Dilwyn Llewllyn seems to be Gwendoline, a daughter of John Talbot Dilwyn Llewelyn.

The Lighter Side / Re: do you read Japanese?
« on: Tuesday 09 August 05 07:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi Toni,

I just read your post..and I am in Japan (although only for the next month or so).
I can't actually read much japanese myself, especially if it's written in Japanese characters (kanji). But if you scan it and send it to me I can probably find someone japanese to tell me what it says.

If you send me a PM then I can send you my e-mail address.

Best regards,

Emily

Oops yes..you're right....I was thinking of the quarter as Jun, jul, Aug ...instead of Apr, May, Jun which it actually is...

Hmm..strange...maybe it's been somehow mistranscribed on freeBMD?

Best regards,

Emily

I also couldn't find any likely looking death registrations for Joseph and Ruth...or a marriage reg. either.

I think this could be Ivy's birth though?

Jun quarter 1896
