:D  Thanks so much Jennifer that is brilliant.  I really don't know how I have missed them.  Anyway thanks alot for all of these entries.

Do you think that Daniel being called James on the marriage certificate was an error?  Should I look for the birth of Daniel GALLAWAY or James do you think?

Thanks alot again  regards  Sue  ;)

Hi I really hope that some of you very experienced people can help me.   Here is my complex query:

There are many questions  ??? on this couple the facts as I know them are:

On 1861 census married living in Kensington.
Daniel age 22 and says he was born in St Marylebone, meaning born 1839
Jane age 22 and says she was born in Wellington, Devon. Meaning born 1839

Have also found Jane MARSH on the 1851 census with her parents but age indicates she was born 1849  :-\

Got birth certificate for their son George Henry born 11 September 1863 states father Daniel GALLOWAY mother Jane GALLOWAY formerly MARSH. Living Marylebone.

Daniel & Jane were married in Marylebone my information, found on Ancestry is as follows:

Banns called on Nov. 27th, Dec. 4th and 11th. At Christchurch, St Marylebone.
States married 14th December 1859
Names on Banns read Daniel GALWAY bach. and Jane MARSH spin.

Marriage certificate says:

14th December 1859 at Christchurch, St Marylebone
James GALOWAY, of full age, Bachelor, Bricklayer, Buine ST,
Father Richard GALOWAY, Labourer.

Jane MARSH, of full age, Spinster, Buine St,
Father Charles MARSH, Bricklayer.

No signatures just the mark of.  Witnesses were: Robert HILL or HALL and Caroline GALLOWAY.   ???

Where do I look for their births  as so far not been able to find any.  Daniel or James?    :'(

Need some experience.

Thanks alot  Sue

Hi Jennifer,

Sorry   :(  I am not making myself very clear here am I.

What I meant was that I had not found that census entry but have found Kates birth and she was Jane Catherine b. Aug. 1884.  Her mother is down as Bridget GALLAWAY formerly CONNOR and it is Bridget's birth I am trying to find.

Bridget says she is 18 on the 1881 census living in Marylebone  means born abt.  1863

19 on her marriage certificate in 1884 again Marylebone means born abt. 1865

37 on the 1901 census living in Kensington means born abt. 1864

I found a birth for Bridget CONNOR in 1863 but the father on that cert. was not James and that is the name of her father on the marriage cert.   :'(

I really am not sure where to go for the birth, I think the only thing that I can count on is that she was born Marylebone! ???

Help

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks alot for that hadn't found that one.  What do you think about her birth then?  If she wasn't born in the 1863 as I initially thought I have found a female birth in 1866 in Marylebone.  How would you find out what the name eventually was??  Do they add it later or what??
Lots of questions  I know  ....sorry but hope you can help. :-\

Thanks alot again

Hi Jennifer,

Well I have looked at the marriage certificate  for Bridget it says:

Bridget CONNOR - 19 - Spinster - 67  Margaret Street  W - James CONNOR - Carman.

for George Henry it says:

George Henry GALLAWAY - 21 - Bachelor - Woodcutter - 19 Stephen St NW - Daniel GALLOWAY - Bricklayer.

Married, by Banns, in the church of All Saints,  Margaret Street,  Marylebone.  Both signed  and the witnesses were:

M W WHINGATES  and Thomas KELLY
