Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Nancy Ann Mellor, Dukinfield.

 Hi Alex,

That's wonderful news!!!!

Could it be possibly Sally Dakin Mellor?
Sometimes when gravestones are transcribed if it possibly said Sally Dakin,
died 10 may 1817, niece of Peter Cross.

They may have just thought her name was Sally Dakin,

I have seen this lots of times as I transcribe gravestones, and we always do a little research about this so we get it right, if it's possible. So to make a better index.

If not, you have another ancestor to search for!!!  :D

There other monumental inscriptions for Mellor's but haven't found one for Nancy other than the one listed.

« on: Friday 18 November 16 10:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have spent some time searching the Griffith's Evaluation for a possible family ancestor.
Found one who seems to be ticking all the right boxes. ;D
It states on the page "No. in ref to position on map"

Would anyone know if the map exists and if it is available to view?

Many Thanks,
Cancan :)

Hi,

Have you thought of donating it to Burnley Library, they are always grateful for donations of documents, photo's etc., of the area.
They have a family history dept and the staff are really great and helpful at offering advise etc., documents etc.,

I recently visited and they provided me with lots of info, some of which had come from people donating photo's and other things.
They have display cases, which they use to show about the history of the area and what collections they have.

I have regularly used their services and they always provide information etc., for free
