Hi :)

Just a quick note to say thanks to all who advised me regarding my quest. Mum and I spent a lovely week in Ireland - our first visit - and found some great places connected to our ancestry, including the church at Carrick On Suir. Amazing. Thanks again :)

Lovely, Sinann, thank you.
So it is on the same spot.
Brilliant. I'll have to have a look while I'm over there :) :) :)

Hi Conahy Calling :)

Yes, I had noticed that, and wondered if the church was built on the same spot or nearby. Maybe I can find out. It will be interesting to visit the place, at least. Thank you. Much appreciated :)

Thank you very much Conahy. Much appreciated. :)
I'll have a good look at those.

We know of ancestors in Killarney and Cobh, as well as some in parts of Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and possibly Limerick so it will be great to experience the land of our forefathers.

Thanks again :)

Thank you so much Sinann!

I wouldn't have found that information without your help. You are very kind. I am going to study that now. Exciting. Thank you again :) :)

Oh dear. I wasn't impressed first time around. I hope I haven't wasted my money. At least it was a reduced fee. :)

Hi :)

I am a long-term paid 'Ancestry' member and I have free 'Find My Past' membership but pay to get full membership from time to time.

I have just re-joined 'My Heritage' at a special price. I thought that it might be worthwhile as I have been told that they have lots of records not available elsewhere.

I see that they have the 1939 Register, but could anyone tell me, please, what else I should be looking for on 'My Heritage' that I wouldn't be able to find on 'Ancestry'? When I joined before I  just wasted my opportunities and I want to make the most of my membership,. :)

Thank you :)

Hi :)

My mum's great grandfather was born in Tipperary and we are heading off to Ireland next month in search of family history.

I am pretty sure that I have found my gt gt grandfather's baptism and his parents' marriage:

Edward / Edmund Keefe son of Patrick & Catherine (Lahy / Leahy?) was baptised at Carrick on Suir, Waterford & Lismore, Tipperary, on 3 Jan 1849.

Patrick Keefe married Catherine Leahy at Carrick-on-Suir, Waterford and Lismore, Tipperary, on 28 December 1846.

Does anyone with local knowledge know where the church is where these services would have taken place, please?

Or does anyone else have a family connection? :)

Thank you.
Tricia :)

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: 1939 - Errors, etc?

Hi and thank you for your reply. :)

I suppose that I should have expected similar errors to those I find on other records but I was surprised at these particular ones, especially as it was my first visit to the register. I shall know better in future LOL :)
