I have already had some wonderful restorations and colour of the lady in the magnificent dress on the right. The other photo is taken in the same studio, but is it the same lady or a different one. I think the dress is different as it doesn't look like watered silk. I wondered if the 2nd lady was a bit older.
Can you please work your magic on this one for me.    Thank you
Pat

I would love to know the date for these children. A clean up and perhaps some colour would look good please

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Where am I map
« on: Tuesday 28 April 15 12:25 BST (UK)  »
I have been keeping a map to help me place the various photos and thought I would share it with you.
I must point out this is not intended to be absolutely accurate, it is an approximate position of the properties. It is quite difficult to place some of them either in the wilds of Scotland or in the more crowded southern ones.
I hope you find it interesting.

I would think this is man & wife as they are obviously taken on same day.
I would be pleased if an approximate date can be given.
Thank you

Can anybody date this photo please and how old do you think she is? I have made a guess at the date so will be interesting to see how near I am.
She could do with a clean and a colour if you want

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Please restore
« on: Thursday 16 April 15 13:41 BST (UK)  »
This is a photo from my own family album. It has a plain back with the date July 1882 written on it.
I would love to see some restorations and maybe colour.

I would like to say how much I, and many others, love this collection and the history you have  found so far.
I think one of the difficulties in finding the properties is that probably most have been taken with back views and not the front.
My friends lived in this property in France, it came as part of the job.  I know it's not one of yours Cazza, but just look how plain the front is and then look at the back.  All the photos we took when visiting were taken in the back of course.
I am sure this is why it is so hard to identify some of the houses.

Lancashire / John Arthur Bownass (Known as Arthur)
« on: Thursday 02 October 14 11:20 BST (UK)  »
I have posted this on the Antrim board so hope it is OK to post it here too.

My father, William Cecil Bownass  b 1901 was the youngest of six children. They were all born in Arkholme, Lancashire and all lived there except for the next to the youngest John Arthur b 1896, who I know very little about.  I know he was in the Royal Engineers in WW1 and as Arkholme is  a Thankful village, I know he was one of the 59 men from that village who returned safely.
He  eventually moved to Northern Ireland (Belfast I think) to work on a newspaper, but I’m not sure when.. He married Alice ? but I don’t know if this was in Lancashire or Ireland. I can find no trace of this marriage in England.  I believe they had twins which did not survive, but again I can find no trace.
I do know my family were due to take me for a visit to them in September 1939, but because of the outbreak of WW2 we obviously did not go.
I think he died after 1968, in Northern Ireland, but again I cannot find details..
I would be grateful for any help you can give me,

I have since heard from Aghadowey on the Antrim board with news of the twins, so I now have information about their birth and deaths.
