I rescanned the picture at 300 dpi, the scanner I have is a basic Canon printer/scanner, it doesn't give the option of greyscale and has only three options for size of scan i.e. 150,300, 600 dpi, the original b/w picture has a bit more detail than the scan but Peter and Pat have brought this out brilliantly.
to my untrained eye I can't see any difference in the scan at 300dpi, but to you guys it might mean the difference between a good job and a bad one.
                    Regards, John.
P.S. I forgot to mention hoobaloo for the lovely job  ::) apologies.

If you look at your pic it has a lot of the area pretty much useless so it can be cropped to what I suggest and show all the interesting features, and I resized it downwards to reach 499kb for Rootschat at 24bit and 96 dots per inch.  When a better original meeting those dimensions is posted the Restorers will give you back much the same within the size limits, and you can then Resize it upwards to suit yourself,  cheers, Ian
Thanks Ian, I'm not too clued up on the technical end of these things, I scanned the picture at 600 dpi
and resized it to just under 500 kb to fit the brief for posting. I have posted three already which I scanned and resized similar to this one. I'm also confused as to what cropping you suggest.
             cheers, John.

It appears to have been already worked on and the Contrast has been turned too High, resulting in the loss of Grey Shading of Pixels.  Is the Original photograph the same as the picture on Rootschat ?
Thanks Ian, I posted the picture previously and it had some work done but the pixel count was too high so I re scanned it and posted it again.
