To change the subject slightly; no, a lot; why do my number of posts always remain at 1 and not show the correct number? s it something I can adjust?

I have come across a few Adelaides in my tree, can be shortened to Adela. I think that is a nice name for a girl   ...  but I don't have any daughters.

I spent ages looking for my grandfather in the 1901 census (he was born in 1891). I eventually found him listed as "baby  boy  age 10". His two elder sisters were listed as "twins dau  12".    Still, I got them in the end!

I started about 20 years ago but I have had gaps of several years when I left the research alone. Family history is such that you can pick it up where you left off. The records don't go away and in fact are getting  better with the internet. I too wish I had started when I had more of my ancestors alive to ask questions. Getting a good family history programme for my computer helped to spur me on as with it I can record and understand my data much better.
My great sorrow is that I can find nobody who is interested in my research.  :'(  My wife and sons are not bothered about their family and I have not discovered any cousins who I can trade findings with, so I just do it for my own pleasure. Maybe before I go I shall find someone......... :(

Sarah,
I have recently joined Rootschat and have only just seen your post.
I have just received the birth cert for my G-g mother Elizabeth Ann Butler. She was born in Ibstone Common 8/9/1860, Father William Butler, mother Ann Bird. In the 1881 census (in Paddington) Ann is shown as being born in Oxfordshire and I have found her birth index, Thame Q3 1838. I next need to look at the 1861 census for Ibstone Common and also to the Parish Records to get more info.
Could this Ann Bird be of interest to you ???
