I have at last found a death on Lancashire BMD of Harriet E Winterbottom Farnworth Bolton and although the age Of 48 isn’t Quite right I think that is because as shown on the census she tended to lop years off!

There only seem to be 2Winterbottom graves one is Sarah Ann’s with William Snr and jnr and the other is Margaret Mary Winterbottom William jnr s wife and their sons and daughter.
It occurs to me that whilst there may not be a grave marker for Harriet Elizabeth Winterbottom there surely should be a registration of her death sometime after 1912 and I just can’t find one which is why I wondered if she’d remarried I will have another look at that and see if I can find a marriage.

Yes I suppose that’s so. Maybe I’m just going to have to wait until this pandemic is over and go to the records office. I was hoping to have this done and dusted by October for my brother in laws 70th birthday as it’s his family history.

So sorry For the misinformation yes I got my date wrong for Williams death I have her birth date as AprQ 1858 Ecclesall Bierlow Sheffield and she is with them in 1861 age 2 and of course she is a widow in 1901 and 1911 what I meant to say is that she still had her married name of Winterbottom.
Gladdys is shown as staying with Harriets sister Emily Bullar or Bullas in 1901 and Frederick James is enrolled at Holy Trinity certified industrial school as a tailor.
Did wonder if she had remarried after 1912 it does seem strange that she isn't in the family grave.
I also wonder if she chopped the odd year off her age as it does seem to differ.

Hi thanks for your help but it can’t be the Royton cemetery one as Her husband William Died 1909 and is buried with his first wife Sara Winterbottom nee Lees (who died 1888) At Southport. Harriet and Williams son is also buried in the same grave with an inscription that implies William jnr was Sarah’s son but she died 1888 and William jnr was born 1894. Nothing about Harriet she was alive in 1912 a widow living at Chorley st. Bolton with all 4 of their children.

Hello looking for Harriet Elizabeth Spencer born AprQ 1858 Ecclesall Bierlow Sheffield have her age 2 on the 1861 census with her parents Sarah and Frederick Spencer then age 12 as a nurse for a farmers family called Scofield but can’t find her on the 1881 census ive tried her siblings and her father married her mother’s sister in 1864 and no luck there.she’s on the 1891 1901 and 1911 census as wife of William Winterbottom (Southport, Bolton, Oldham) who she married 1889. I also can’t find her death this has been driving me mad for weeks So any help would be gratefully received. Thanks Jay

I only have the Irish 1901 census and the links which have been kindly provided to The births of Margaret marys and Joseph ignatious and Cornelius and Elizabeth’s marriage. The next info I have is Margaret Marys marriage to William Winterbottom in 1919, some Liverpool records and her death In Southport I also have records of her brother Michael Francis In Liverpool his family and his death.
