Hello Rosie99,

Thank you for your quick reply, which is very interesting, as on the 1841 census Joseph and Caroline are living next door to Francis and Ann (nee Whitcroft) Cambers!!!!! So it seems as brother and sister married brother and sister!!!

Thank you again for the names of Caroline's parents. Another couple of leaves on the tree.

Leicestershire / Whitcrofts of Ulverscroft

My 3xGreat Grandparents were Joseph Whitcroft and Caroline Chambers.
Joseph was born in Ulverscroft  in about 1815 and died aged 92 in 1906 in Newton Linford.
Caroline was born in Warden, Bedfordshire in about 1821 and died aged 94, in 1915, in Leicester.

I have found them on 1841,1851,1861,1871,1881,1891 and 1901 censuses. Can anyone help me find out who their parents were?

They had 5 children. Charles (1842) William (1844, my 2xGreat Grandfather), Rachel (1847), John (1849) and Mary (1952).

I understand that there is a Whitcroft Lane in the Ulverscroft area and I wonder if this has anything to do with Joseph and Caroline but probably not!!!!

I would be very grateful for any help on this family.

Hello Luzzu,

Isabella married William Brown and died in 1899 in Tottenham. I will see if I can find any sign of Betsy.

Thank you again for all your time.

Hello Luzzu,

Thank you , Thank you again. I did not have the baptism details or the marriage place. I know a bit about Christiana's parents, but I do not know who Edmund's parents were, so if you can weave your magic over their details I would be very grateful!

Thank you again for all your help.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply mosiefish. I have been looking  for more info on Edward's parents. Edmond was born in Lancashire in about 1785. He was a stone mason. Christinia Ridding/Redding was born in about 1789, in Kirkby Lonsdale and I believe I have found them on the 1841 census in Ford Lane, Eccles, together with Edward aged 20.  I have not been able to find their deaths or any sign of them on later censuses. Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you shanew147. You have given me so much information, I am very grateful. I must apologize for putting Lucy Bridget on the site twice - another senior moment I'm afraid!!!!!!

I think my next move should be to contact the church and see if I can find out more about the Finns.

Thank you again.
