Staffordshire / Alice Turner from Leek
« on: Tuesday 08 December 09 09:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone to tell me who Alice Turner b. 1895 in Leek married?
Her father was Thomas or Tom and her mother was Ellen Pointon. I have found 2 possible records, in 1913 to Abel Holdcroft (also listed on the same page as this is the marriage of a Winifred Pointon) or in 1915 to a William O Shaughnessey.
I cant justify buying the certificates this close to xmas so if anyone knows the definate answer, I'd be very grateful!!

 :) Thanks, Danielle

Staffordshire / Marriage of Samuel TURNER
« on: Sunday 06 December 09 10:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I am searching for the wife/wives of Samuel Turner b. 1790 in Leek, Staffs
I suspect he was married to an Elizabeth Chappel in 1817 in Leek and had a son John in 1821.
Then he must of remarried because on the 1841 census, he is listed with a Ruth. Their first child, Samuel, was born in 1831. I have found a marriage record but its puzzling.
It says her name is Ruth TURNOCH (could this be a variation of TURNER?) and it says they were married in Stoke upon Trent, but lived in Leek. My geography isnt that sharp so I dont know if this fits geographically  :-\
Can anyone help with this??

Thanks, Danielle

Staffordshire / TURNER family
« on: Wednesday 02 December 09 16:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

I am looking into a family of Turner's I descend from. Clara Turner b. 1887 in Leek is my gg grandma. I have located her and her parents and siblings on the 1891 and 1901 census. Her father was Thomas (Tom) b. 1861, wetley rocks, staffordshire and her mother was Ellen (Pointon, I think, not proven!)
My problem is I'm struggling to go further back on the Turner line, I have found a possible family for Thomas being Father, George and mother, Emma.
Is there anyone that confirm or deny this?? Was hoping to find out without having to buy the cert!!
Also if anyone knows anything about the life of Clara, that would be great. Apparently she was a dancer, in what respect, I have no idea but I know she married Mowbray Missen and had a son Horace by him and 2 other children after he was killed in ww1, that had the Missen name!
Thanks for reading  :)

Norfolk / Harvey / Lovett, Costessey, Norfolk
« on: Sunday 15 November 09 09:55 GMT (UK)  »
hi

Is there anyone out there who can tell me when Richard Harvey and Sarah Lovett married??

I suspect their first child was born in 1790, William, but I can't prove he is their son
I have found Susanna b. 1795, Richard b. 1798, Sarah b. 1801, James b. 1806 and Hannah b. 1810

Any help in linking William to Richard and Sarah would also be a great help

Many thanks

Family History Beginners Board / The career of Henry PERRY
« on: Friday 13 November 09 20:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Does anyone know anything about the career of Henry Perry b. 1834 in Walton, Somerset. He was a police officer and this is the aspect of his life I am most interested in. He married Elizabeth Hucker in 1856 and by 1871 they had moved to Ewell, Surrey. At this time he was a police Constable, in 1881 he was a special constable still in Surrey and he had retired by 1891. They had 8 children, that I can find

Can anyone help, Many thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Easton or Casey?? *completed*
« on: Wednesday 04 November 09 10:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have come across a bit of a puzzle!
Ernest J Perry married Dora T Easton in 1911 and they had a son in 1913, Henry, but mothers maiden name on that record is Casey. I found a birth for Dora Teresa Casey in 1877 in Hampstead but no marriage record between Dora Casey and Ernest Perry!!
I have found a previous marriage record for Dora Easton and she married a Levi Richard Casey in 1899 in Wandsworth but cannot find a death record for him!!

If you understood any of that, help is much needed!!

Many thanks
