What is your thinking on the fact that William BAGGALEY Death Certificate 1863 stated Place of Death as just Long Bennington....? If he had died in the Cottage Hospital then possibly it may then have said so...?

Thanks KGarrad.
From records we know that William Baggaley was a cottager.
His wife predeceased him and he was the beneficiary according to her Probate record.
I wish I could recall where the possibility of a Cottage Hospital was mentioned...

From GRO Death Certificate:
William BAGGALEY DIED 6 June 1863 Long Bennington Male 88 years Farm Laborer
Cause of Death - Decay of Nature Certified
Signature, Description and Residence of Informant - Sarah Baggaley in attendance Long Bennington
Regd. 8 June 1863.
...

Parish Record of his Burial states his abode to have been Balderton (Nottinghamshire) (where Mary Taylor nee Baggaley), widow, pauper resided in 1861. He was Buried St Swithins Churchyard, Long Bennington.

She died 1867 at her married daughter's home in Southwell, Notts.

Much research has been done on this family line. There are a few Sarah Baggaley's who were possibly the informant - difficult to narrow down...

William did not have a daughter named Sarah...

Baggaley may even have been her married name.....

He and his wife Jane nee HARDWICK had 13 known children - a number died young and names were repeated for later issue.

The reason I was hoping to find William might have been with Mary TAYLOR (nee Baggaley) when he died thereby proving a connection, is that despite much research her birth and parentage have never been discovered.

Thank you rosie99 and BumbleB.
Balderton is just over the county line in Nottinghamshire.

I was disappointed as my 2 x Great Grandmother (possibly the daughter of the chap who died in 1863) lived in Balderton, Notts. and had hoped he may have been living with her and his Death Certificate might have had her Balderton address (Church Lane, 1851 census) as his place of death.
(thereby proving a family connection).

Not to be  >:(

Thanks again.

Lincolnshire / Hospital etc- Long Bennington, 1840's - 1860's

Hello to people who may know the answer to my question (fingers crossed).

I have received some Death Certificates with "When Died" showing date and place.

Place in a couple of instances being "Long Bennington" - nothing more than that.
(Of course I had been hoping for more detail)

I have a Burial Parish Record for one of the chaps and it states ABODE - BALDERTON BURIED - LONG BENNINGTON. But his Death Certificate states Place of Death to be Long Bennington.

If someone was ill in the 1840's - 1860's I'm wondering would they go from their ABODE to a hospital or similar where they eventually died and their place of death was then shown just as Long Bennington....?

I had heard somewhere that there may have been a Cottage Hospital in Long Bennington, or maybe some other institution that would account for place of death showing as just Long Bennington.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks again HGarrad - I have had a look and am going to wait and see what information I might receive from Lincolnshire Family History Society as a guide to what would be the best option.
