I hope I am not being greedy in submitting another so quickly.  You lot have given me the bug.  If viewers of Tips and tutorials has increased dramatically today - it was me.  I think I have managed to do this photo. It was massive. The photo was sent to my grandfather who came from Mayo- signed and dated on back James Durkan, Latrobe, PA, 20/08/1890.  I think James Durkan emigrated from Mayo to PA around 1885. I have tried for months and months to trace descendants of James in order to let them have the photo. Contacted local history society in Latrobe but no results.  Maybe a clearer photo would help.  Please put me in the queue and when someone has time I would be grateful.
Thanks again, Eileen

Hello
Still trying to edit the Lovely 1890 pic!  Below is a pic taken 1900 of my maternal grandfather and grandmother.  A real challenge as the photo is broken - is it possible to remove the split?  You are really a great bunch to offer this service (wish I could send you an apple pie!)

Hello you kind people
This is my grandmother Emma Johnson (nee Cordingley) with her sister Jessie Cordingley.  Both died when I was about 4 years old so these are my only memories of them.  Can anyone bring a bit more life into the photo please?

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Burton-on-Trent Library??
« on: Saturday 28 November 09 16:36 GMT (UK)  »
If any kind person out there visits Burton-on-Trent library, I wonder if they would look up the Horniglow Workhouse Admissions and Discharges records.  I am looking for Sarah Johnson, born Winshill, who in 1891 was aged 12 and living there.  According to one site I found the records are kept at Burton-on-Trent.  I have been unable to trace her since she appeared on 1891 Census. Cannot find a death 1891-1901. Thanks.

If a birth was in Swinford Workhouse would it mean that the mother was resident there or in 1864 was it also a lying in hospital?  So far I haven't found this information anywhere.  Thanks.  (The notifiers of the birth were described as 'occupiers Swinford)

Mayo / Copies birth/death/marriage certs Mayo
« on: Saturday 17 October 09 15:25 BST (UK)  »
Trying to beat forthcoming postal strike I rang Castlebar Registry Office yesterday to see if I could obtain a copy birth certificate. Very pleasant efficient lady transferred me to Galway so I could pay by credit card over phone.  Within 5 mins of dialing the certificate was ordered and paid for.  Great service - congratulations to them.  :)

Mayo / McEvilly - Mayo?
« on: Wednesday 14 October 09 14:01 BST (UK)  »
Martin McEvilly b 1902 son of James McEvilly worked as a plasterer in Willesden, England in the 1920s/1930.  He married an aunt of mine in 1932 but the marriage was annulled.  He was kept a secret from the younger end of the family and I only found out after the aunt died in 2000.  Despite all efforts nothing can be found of him after the 'divorce' paper in 1938 - there doesn't appear to be a death record in England.  Maybe he returned to Ireland?  Does Martin McEvilly, son of James McEvilly mean anything to anyone. Grateful for any clues.
