you are so kind in looking

He is not down as deceased on the marraige cert  this is why i thought he would be alive on the 1861
as emma was married in 1859 in all saints so again I was thinking she would have been local
emma was the only one who signed her name on the wedding cert the others just made a mark so I am thinking she was educated a little

Can you get a birth cert for 1826?

oh and I´m looking for their witnesses in the 1861 census to see where they were living and I´m still working my way through that one.

thanks for taking the time and trouble
Polly

Thanks very much for looking much appreciated

I dont know where he was born :( but his daughter Emma my gg randmother was married and died in Leicester and buried in Welford Cemetery.

I cant find them as a family on the 1841 census either

her husband was born in oadby again a common name Norman loads of them around and its taken me years to sort his lot out.

I was thinking they must have been local but the nearest I can find is Birmingham, I suppose with a name like Jones I might never know :(

thanks again for looking

yes the marraige cert is for Jonas  born 1819 to a Ann matthews in the parish church of leeds

fathers are John hodgson basket maker and benjamin Matthews cloth dyer

witnesses her brother Frederick matthews and a Susannah Wright

Censuses 1841 only have John Jonas and son John down as basket makers and 3 of the sisters down at 15 years old
1851 only john down as basket maker and son basket maker  Jonas married 1842

1961 census none for the family found as a group a susannah Hodgson 21 years lodging with her brother Richard age 11
she was a dress maker he at school.
Same address for each census but 13 year age gap between husband and wife which means she had the first child at 15 years old going by the 1801 age

thanks

Hi there

I need help from a pair of fresh eyes to see if I am going totally GA GA

I am tracking a Jonas Hodgson born 1819 Leeds basket maker info from wedding certificate of my gg grandfather
there is an ancestral file on the IGI

His parents
John Hodgson born 1795 Yorkshire married a Johannah either Peacock or Hirst  born 1798

I ordered the death certificate for a Johannah Hodgson on it her spouse John a school master (my John was a mere Basket Maker) and the reporter was a Mary Peacock so I am thinking it must be Hirst he married (her father called Jonas too)

1841 census mothers name Hannah and 8 children Jonas basket maker and son John basket maker
1851 John wife is now Ann and another child born 1844 her DOB is abt 1801  son John Basket maker
so that would make her in her 50,s when she had the child  if it is the same woman Hannah or Johannah

I know they got the names wrong sometimes  and dates   this is driving me nuts!! could he of remarried  ???
or am I putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5?? or am I tracking wrong woman

second opion appreciated
thanks in advance
